Evening Gents......
Just back from my usual weekend 3 ball and im a little confused.......
I mark my ball for putting with a line on it but on the tee when i place my ball i have a habit of putting that line at the back of the tee with just enough showing that i cant see it at address but that after impact it leaves a black line on the face of my Irons to aid as an indicator of where the ball hit on the club face......Its pretty good but today i didnt play at all well and on looking at most if not all of my shots the line was showing just inside the hosel on the face.......Its millimetres away from a shank even though i only did that on the 1st tee....Thank god......For the most part the ball was going forward at least.......

Has anyone any ideas as to how or why this was happening i just could not seem to get it out of the middle of any club....

Maybe it was just one of those days. :D

May sound basic but align it slightly out of the toe next time? Or stand further away from the ball? I think i'm right in saying that shanks can be commonly caused by too much hand action in the hitting zone aswell. Hope this helps

Shanking a driver, now that's got to hurt!
You are either throwing your hands at the ball near impact or standin an inch or two too close.

Sorry if i confused anyone.....I dont use a driver Brendy....3 wood only and the 2 shanks i hit were off our 1St with a 5 Iron..... Through the round the shots i was hitting seemed to be going straight but i could feel they weren't right....And on inspection of the club face the mark from the ball was close to the Hosel.....Not completely on it but probably the width of a tee away from exiting stage right...
