I had to do it.
After wafting Fragger's Regular G20 driver for a couple of rounds I was convinced there was something in it.
So yesterday I went up to AG and tried it on the monitor. Luckily, with AG's reputation for dodgy numbers, I knew I could hit the regular flex G20 about 250 yards pretty straight.
So, armed with a taped up 10.5 degree G20 in stock regular, I went for it. Shot after shot went 250 down the middle.

I tried a stiff shaft just to see and the numbers just didn't match up. Too little spin, too low a launch, although total distance wasn't far behind, the shot pattern was wider.
Back to the regular to double check and the numbers were the same as before. About 2500-2700 spin, launch around 16 degrees, 230-240 carry, total 250-260. Bearing in mind that when I was fitted for the 910, I had to use the Stiff RIP shaft to get the spin down to those levels, I was amazed that the stock regular shaft gave great results.

So it's in the bag. The headcover is still as crap as the G10/15 one - might look to change it - but it went well.
In a brisk sidewind (on most holes) today, although only 4 fairways from 12 were found, none of the others put the ball's life in jeapardy and a nice, solid 78 for 37 points ensued. In fact I ran out of fairway 3 times..!

All in all I'm happy with it at the moment. It seems quite tricky to hit a really bad shot with it. And I'll take 250 down the middle on any hole.

I'm at the top of the slippery slope to PINGdom..........

Resist my son, resist .... I did hit my brother in laws G15 the other day and it was just about the easiest club I've ever hit

Still resist unless you are of advancing years

Chris

When I hit it perfectly, the 910 is the best I've ever hit.
Unfortunately it didn't happen very often. I've played 3 rounds with a G20 and hit more good drives with it than I did with the 910 since I had it.

I have taken the plunge as well. I hit my i15 as good as I have ever hit a driver and its helped me get my h/cap down by 3 shots this year, however, after a few bad rounds with it I convinced myself I needed something a little more forgiving.

After 2 rounds , the G20 with the stiff (not tour stiff) is quickly making its way onto the for sale section. I found the regular too whippy, and the launch monitor stats were spot on with the stock stiff shaft. However on the course its a different story !!!

What's that they say about workmen and their tools ??

Forgot to add that the nice Man at AG in MK - Justin I think - price matched to some online shop and knocked 15 quid off the price!!

Mate borrowed my G15 10.5 reg on Saturday, and has succumbed.

I added the Ping S57's at the expense of my Callaway X-forged in July, and have never been sooooo consistent as I am now.

Go on, you all know you will succumb to the great God Ping.

I have to say I find it very hard to believe that your a regular shaft?!! very strange set of circumstances must have come together for you to get that slow since I last played with you, although I guess its the transition speed from take away to follow though not the total speed and if i remember right your quite smother on your Mizuno numbers. Will you be looking at some R300`s for those Callys? At the end of the say its all about results so it must have crossed your mind.

Did the 910 get traded in? Or does it need keeping warm??!!!

Interesting to hear so much love for Ping drivers. I've had Ping irons for years but never given them much consideration for woods.

I'm in the market for new driver and 3-wood, and thought I'd narrowed it down to Titleist, Cally and TM to trial, but might have to widen the net to Ping as well.

Swing speed still just over the 100mph mark...??? Can't explain it at all.

Oh and a deal's already been done on the 910 - sorry Guys.

mate of mine plays off 3 and everything is reg shafts in his clubs.

He hits a long ball too, in fact a few low guys i know just have reg off the shelf shafts.

I had a look at the G20 at lunchtime today and must say it looks a lovely club: really nice shape, well balanced, sits nicely, and a good £70-80 cheaper than the 910s and R11s. Definitely going on the trial shotlist.

and the 3-wood was nice looking as well.
