anyone converted a .370 shaft to 355 taper tip? thinking of putting a hybrid shaft in my 712u but slim picking on 355 tap tip so thinking of converting one?

Most, if not all hybrid shafts that are .370" tip are designed to be tapered down to fit .355" taper tip if necessary. That means the tip on .370" hybrids is somewhat thicker than normal and can therefore be "pencilled down" with a knife the fit into a .355" bore quite easily. I did mine myself to fit a Grafalloy Prolaunch Red HY into my 585H. if you ask some OEM's nicely, they even supply Hybrid shafts ready shaved to fit .355". So it wouldn't be much of a problem - even though I would consider the 712U as more of an iron rather than a hybrid. It's usually an inch shorter than most equivalent hybrids for starters. In which case, just use an iron shaft?

You could always ream the hosel to .370.

But it would then need a shim if went back - which I suspect you would!

Do you already have the shaft - or an idea of the one you want?

Nemicu's suggestion to use an iron shaft makes more sense to me though!
