Looking at going to France next year on a weeks fishing holiday late April, early May time.
Found a great looking place about 3.5 hours drive from Calais, Carp to mid 40's along with Tench, Pike, Perch, Zander and Catfish, although it will be the Carp I am mainly fishing for.
£700.00 for the week which includes exclusive use of the 5 acre natural lake and rental of a two bedroom (4 twin beds) cabin with all mod cons. Only 4 swims on it, so nice and relaxing.
So if 4 go, that works out at £175.00 each. Cheap as chips!
Obviously doesn't include ferry/eurotunnel crossing but it's still cheap!
And, if the mood takes you there is a golf course 5km away (don't know what it's like but it would make a break from the fishing!).
Anybody interested, PM me and I'll forward details on.

I am possibly interested Rob. Mid 40's means my 2 3/4 tc rods will just about do the job. Was looking at drive and survive trips (bivvy etc) but a weeks camping is not my cup of tea. probs looking at around £250+ with ferry/petrol I guess which aint bad for a week (mind you add on a few kg boilies, rigs etc & food/beer)

Drive and survive doesn't really float my boat either G1BBO. I don't mind the odd overnighter or week-end bivvied up, but the thought of being under canvas for the week doesn't do a lot for me.
I guess the Eurotunnel will cost about £80.00 return (it did last time I looked) and a 3.5 hour jog down there won't use up too much fuel. If we can get four guys to go and spread the costs it would work out a cheap holiday.
I've only got 2 3/4 tc rods, but they should be plenty mate. I've had a 19 out on my leger rods no problem and they can only be 1 1/2. Load of guys go with the same, you should be fine. You would only want a firmer rod if you were luzzing coconuts out to the horizon and it's not that sort of lake mate.
Three rods allowed, I'd take my two carp rods and maybe a stalking rod or leger rod to do a bit of crusting.

them rods will be fine fellas. i go carping to france twice a year and my 3lb grey's where more than capable of bringing in my pb of 61lb. not sure of how many times you've been smithy but the end of april can be hit and miss and a big gamble. if the weather warms up too early in march/april then you'll be sat there watching them spawn for a week. first week in april and first week in october are always winners.

Yeah I was worried about spawning Hovis. I know what you mean about the weather warming up and I'd hate to hit the lake at the wrong time. Anytime in April is good for me. I don't mind early. I'd rather go in April than October though. Lighter until later in the evenings, and a bit lighter earlier in the mornings too! I went to a speci lake in Hampshire in July this year, must have been nudging 100 degrees and there wasn't a breath of wind to ripple things up. Bloody great lumps were just hanging there, didn't want to know. We fished a 24 hour session midday to midday and I knew before I threw a line out that we were going to struggle. Didn't liven up when it got dark either, thought the drop in temperature might have got them on the move a bit. But no chance.

looks perfick, nice and quiet so not full of fishermen balling in 10's of kgs of bait. Looks like some good areas for stalking aswell. My old man might even be up for it as its not bivvying up for a week (he loves his fishing)

I want to get four if I can G1BBO, to help keep the costs down etc. I've emailed the guy that runs the place from over here to get a firm idea of availability and prices. Taking Hovis's warning into account it's more likely to be early April than later mate.
But if we are in a cabin and the weather does take a turn for the worst it won't be too bad.
I think the initial deposit to secure is something like £150.00 which I'm happy to pay once I know I've got a bit of commitment.

no probs, will ask the old git tomoz. he usually goes to white acres every year so a week in france and a possible pb would be right up his street.

for that sort of money it would be rude not to go. Mind you I need loads of gear this year as flogged all my overnighter stuff 3 year ago, it was cracking stuff aswell. Will have to replace with some bargains (Ebayyyyyyyyyyyyy)
