thought i would go for a casual round at my local course that i currently pay £58 a month to have unlimited use of but this doesn't include membership to play in comps..

I've been looking forward to going after a morning at work and when i get there im raring to go...

So i walk out onto the 1st which is a par 3 and i was disappointed at the state of the course, the grass wasnt cut and it just looked a mess. But i thought maybe its just this hole..

The next hole is a long par 4 so i was thinking maybe it will be better but NO, Same again not been cut, tee off area a mess fairways full of clover everywhere. The rough was twice as bad. The bunkers well lets just not go there..

Just lately it has gone downhill and it really annoys me when your paying for a service and clearly not getting it!!

Rant over

depends on the contract you have with your current club.

Ive signed a form to say i'll pay my monthly subs until the end of the season come what may, so If I stop paying, I expect they would try to enforce payment.

If you can walk away, then its worth considering.

have you asked why the course is in such poor condition?

Fragger

i asked about cancelling the contract and because i have had it over a year all i would need to do is give a months notice.

I haven't asked about the course condition. \its a council run course and you only ever see people working on there now and again eg grass cutting etc etc..

The bunkers have always been bad hardly any sand in at all.

I just think that if the course looks nice it makes you want to play and gets you in the mood yet when its bad you have a different mind set.

This is the problem with Municipals, the councils are now cutting back very hard and one of the main areas is sports and recreation. Our council put up season tickets for 4 courses over Leeds by 12.5% (from £382 - £427.50) this year. The main problem is our course is a 9 holer and not worth the full wack, no one really plays the other courses as we have our home courses.

Might look for somewhere else after my Rabbits Captaincy is over.

yeah i didnt think of the council cut backs so that prob explains it..

I have been looking at another course near by that is the same as what i pay now and it also includes membership. I know couple of people that play there, 1 is the club captain. Friendly course and a nice course to play.. I just need to get myself down there. Problem is i play week in week out with my dad so moving course i would have no one to play with in the week!! Weekends would be comps so wouldnt make any odds

I'd move fella not good when you look forward to a game and the course is in poor condition. Thankfully the only frustration I get at my place is when it's on temps. Happy course hunting

It's not as good as some condition wise (it's getting better), but at Beedles I pay about £63/month and that's full 7 day membership which obviously includes comps.

What part of Leics are you from?

We seem to have a few now :)

Have to be honest playing places like Windlesham and Camberley lately it has made me wonder what I pay for at Ascot in comparison. Bunkers are still not good and some greens were badly damaged by the snow moss the the extent we had to call the architect/designers back in for a remedial programme. Have we sacked the greenkeeper for failing in his job. No chance. Big decision looming next March
