Never heard her speak English. German people are usually pretty god and doe anyone know how good her English is?

I heard her speak English once, it was in a pretty thick German accent, but was along the lines of :

'ze fazarland vil prevail, ve vill conquer at vill, first ve vill have Greece, zen Italy, zen Europe, zen ze vworld and none of zyou englizsh dogz vill stop us'

I've never heard her use English either, but then again, I've never heard Cameron use german. Or Obama for that matter. In all seriousness, why should Angela merkel use English. She represents german people.

I've seen her speak English when pressed in interviews but she isn't that happy doing so. Think she is trying to become some kind of Euro Queen. Can't see France, Spain etc loving someone trying to lord it over the other EU nations (even more so than now)

I was always told its a tactic used by quite a few high placed germans and french, amongst others, to indicate that they dont consider english to be a 'superior', more widespread, language. Basically even though they speak perfectly good english, they dont use it, just to be awkward, some would say . De gaulle was a famous example. Allegedly.
