I think sooner than later that the UN is going to have to inform the Brazilian government that their country's sovereignty is going to have to take secoond place to the Planet's needs, and an international force of some sort will go in and preserve the rainforest .
Unfortunately the UN are not known for action, just waffling. But if they do not act, some strong nation must.
I have been saying for years, that the way this planet is going, future generations will have giant mirrors in orbit directing 24 hour sunlight on the rainforests in order to maintain oxygen and carbon dioxide levels.
What Macron has said about this is right. The lungs of the world are being destroyed.

Sound like a job for the ER activists.
Haven't seen any footage of them out side the Brazilian embassy.

Also the wild fires in the Arctic which inspired Greta Thunberg to try and do something.
I'm always aware that the forests in Britain were nearly all felled a long time ago. What are doing to replace them? There's the so called National Forest mainly in Staffordshire, but having walked in the area many times it seems a bit of a joke to me.
All governments want to grow their economies. All airports want to expand.
People in the UK are flying more, buying bigger cars, eating food from all over the world.
I don't see much of a move towards electric vehicles.
But we might as well now use Brazil as a scapegoat. It's too late to blame Malaysia and Indonesia for felling their ancient rainforests and replace them with palm oil plantations.

Something that was bought to my attention by a Brazilian friend (lets hope I can insert the photos properly) - yes there are fires in the amazon rainforest, but not to the extent we're being told.

Supposedly at this time of year wildfires in the scrub land of south america are really common and quite often deliberately started in a controlled way. But the number/severity of fires in the amazon itself are being media exaggerated for some reason.

I'm not sure I have an opinion yet, but this is something I'm likely to read more into.

My grief is this, in a world full of grade one political planks, that still have an influence no matter how great or small inc in no particular order. Kim, Trump, Tusk, Boris, Corbyn, Abacus, Comrade Putin, Chinese president Sum tin Wong or what ever his name is, Blair, Farage, ( insert another half a dozen names of your choice in here). We have the Brazilian president who has slipped under the radar. His antics and gob ( comments aimed at the French presidents wife) put the world at jepordy.

I am pretty sure you are not allowed to invade a sovereign nation just because you disagree with how they rule their country.
Yes it’s a problem ,but the rest of the world need to look in the mirror.

This is very revealing!
I would imagine it would be difficult to set fire to a rain forest!
