This happened, it's reported as such, he's off +4 so a very good player, he's won the tournament many times before, so obviously knows the course very well, he's ex military and played with a currently serving Air Force Major, so I would say the level of integrity and honesty would be there, plus why would he lie? For that matter why would all four of the group lie?

I'd imagine it'd be quite easy to pull the wool over one guys eyes in the group. I do think it seems a little far fetched, especially with his track record for aces. Easy to smash one through the back of the green when someone's not looking then 'innocently' find it in the cup. Maybe if he's done it 20 odd times before he figured 'what the he'll, might as well have a hatrick in a round'. Certainly brought him a fair bit of exposure by the sounds of it.
And, a Military background really doesn't guarantee integrity of an individual and his offspring.
If it happened, it's an incredible achievement, one which we would all dream of. If it didn't happen, he's a cheating scumbag and I hope he gets caught. Though it's doubt doubtful he would if he gets to choose who he plays with every week...

The bit that rings alarm bells for me is "Amazingly he has previously scored 22 aces in 47 years of playing. They have all come in tournament play"
So not one hole in one made during friendly play but 22 in tournament play........

agree it is an incredible achievement, having said that the guy is a very good golfer and we have all had rounds where everything drops
The difference is that i get a round about 10 over, he gets a round loads under,
Drivable par 4's with good fairways, downhill? a decent bounce and literally anything can happen.
I take an objection to the idea that he must be cheating as his playing partners are family members. My normal PP is my little "much less chubby than he was" brother and we watch each other like hawks, any infringement is called and no quarter given, I trust him implicitly and I know that that it is mutual ( I think)
If I suggested we "fix" the medal so we both do well in our divisions, I know he would walk away and never play with me again. and I would do likewise.
This is just one of those quirks of the game that happen sometimes.

Congrats I say. Like most rounds bet he was buzzing, but sits back and says "how the flipping eck did I bogey the shortest hole. slacker.
I find it hard to believe but you have to look at what he'd stand to lose in terms of any integrity if this was found to be a lie or a mistake so I'm forced to accept it.

He played 10 under his handicap. I've seen (and heard on hear) many 20+ cappers shooting 10, 15 better than their h/c....

Based on the evidence I have (his scorecard and the news article), I think there is something fishy going on with this.
I would need to see hard evidence (video footage) of this guy playing a round in the low 60s before I even began to believe that he could shoot 57.
Maybe the PGA should invite him to one of their Pro-Am tournaments where we can see him in action. If he suddenly went on to shoot 80, I think we could all agree it was nonsense.
