Part of my routine in a morning is to have a look on here and then cuppa tea and toast reading the BBC news on iPad.

two stories which have me shaking my head this morning.

1, 3 Libyan soldiers who were being trained in the UK sexually assaulted a woman in the UK. They have been charged and are now applying for political asylum.

2, the UK government is to give Jamacia £25 million to help them build a new prison. As at the moment it could be against the Jamacians human rights to deport them as there prisons are not to a standard. Currently Jamacians represent the third highest foreign nationals in our prisons.

Is it just me or am I missing something here.

Yes the BBC are pushing out stories to support things like getting rid of the human rights act.

Point 1. There's a process to be followed. Best wait and see what happens at the end of that process... wouldn't want to prejudge.

Point 2. Our prisons are full. Build one in Jamaica and ship those convicted over here over there think there is an international agreement that criminals can serve time in their home country. Gets the Jamaican criminals out of the UK and frees up room in our prisons... sounds good to me.

Agree, heard on news it would save the UK 10Million a year, so payback in 30 months. Not a bad ROI.

Totally agree with that but why do we have to, or volunteered to pay part of any costs in building prisons abroad. the third highest foreign prisoners are Jamacians. Why have we not volunteered to pay for the highest two foreign population prisoners if it is purely money saving exercise. Re the abuse of there human rights, I can just and it is only just understand that. But again they are in prison because they abused law abiding citizens human rights.

I'm guessing it will be easier to move the Jamican prisoners

It all seems good to me

Phil it certainly seems good to me but I have this churning feeling in me stomach about moving them because a, we save money long term and b, they move to a prison that is more worthy of there human rights.
mentioned this to my daughter and husband earlier today when I visited them. They both said " unfortunately the BBC story does not mention how many of those in prison are there due to gun crimes". ( both coppers in Sheffield city centre).
if that's the case, I still refer to my earlier post re Mr Joe publics right not being considered by said criminals.
Having said all that, again what about the human rights of the woman who was sexually abused by three Libyans, who now want to live here. I have that churning feeling in my stomach again.

Im still really struggling to see the issue in regards the prison ? Removing non Brits criminals is a good thing

I think my issue is not the removing of the prisoners, in fact I am all for it. It's the bit that it's a good deal for the uk coz were paying for a new prison, (which saves us money) again which I am all for.
Why could we not send them before this deal. Furthermore, just watched the news and saw Mr Cameron is out in Jamacia. Why does this have to be announced when he is there. If it's such a good deal why was this not implemented months or years ago.

We couldn't send them because there was nowhere to sent them too ! Prisons there are just as full

Not read that anywhere phil, all I have read is that £25 million, coming out of the foreign aid budget is paying 40% of the costs of a prison which will hold 1,500 and the U.K. Will be sending approx 300 prisoners.

They are helping to fund to build a new prison - surely that's a clue that says they need a new prison to house criminals.
