I posted on here a few weeks or so ago about my thoughts on forged vs cast irons. I said how they feel so much better and that I couldnt see myself going back to cast in hurry.........well I have!!
Talk about a turncoat!!!!! :)
In my defence I do still love the feel I get from my forged irons and they do look the business, but they were robbing me of distance!
I dont have a particularly fast swing and have never been the longest player and the forged irons certainly didnt help me. The lofts are also weaker than previous irons. I know I could have the lofts strengthened but thought I would go for an iron thats a bit more forgiving too.
The irons I have picked up definitely go farther although they dont feel half as good but I cant really afford to sacrifice distance for feel at my level of ability if I'm really honest.
Anyway I am holding my hands up and waiting to be shot down for prpreaching about forged vs cast!!
.

I honestly don't think an average Golfer could tell the difference in a blind test between a forged and a cast club if they make a good contact on the ball.
I went from X20-Tour (cast) to MP58's(forged) and a good solid centre strike felt exactly the same to me.
Off centre and poorer strikes feel bad no matter what how the club is made - just differently bad.

Play with what you feel is best for you.

I can honestly say that those "buttery soft" iron shots occur more often for me with my forged irons than with any cast clubs I've had.
I hit some sweet irons earlier today and they did feel nice, just a bit hollow, if that makes sense?
Anyhow, I would take a hollow feeling 7iron going 150ish over a buttery soft 6iron going 145ish.
I think sometimes I can get ahead of myself and think I am better than I am, when as you say I just need to use what works best for me.

I picked up a set of mint wilson staff di5's for a good price.
Having trouble changing my sig on my phone?? Will try again.
