Advice needed on taking clubs on a plane

it's probably obvious, but if your longest club has an adapter shaft you can remove the head for transit......and then secure the shaft with a piece of plastic tubing if you feel the need :)

This is what I do now, just take the driver head off, put it in the head cover and put it inside the bag. Still use my Club Glove Stiff Arm same as TXL and have never had a problem. I generally pack the top of my bag with my towel and waterproofs. Good luck in the comp.

Ohh sounds good! Good Luck!

Not had any experience - but I would take the head of your driver off, if its got an adapter thingy!

I am off to Portugal in a couple of weeks, it will be the first time I have taken my clubs on a plane. I have got a travel bag but my driver is a lot longer than the rest of my clubs and only just fits in the bag and looks a bit exposed as it sticks up so much. How well are golf clubs treated by airlines? How do I make sure it doesn't get damaged in transit?

I have travelled many times with my clubs without a problem, untill last year when I rushed packing my clubs and went straight from the airport to play in a comp. took cover off and driver shaft was snapped!!
What I normally do stuff bubble wrap around clubs inside bag, rap bubble wrap around wood heads, lastly put driver in packing more bubble wrap around head, and hopefully they will be ok but even this is no guarantee they will be ok as they do throw them about.
Good luck in your comp.

When i went abroad in october i put the hood on my golf bag on and packed my clothes inside the hood securing the clubs. Then clothes and towels around the top of the bag. No problems for me.

I did take out insurance to be on the safe side. For £35 its worth the risk.

Various sets of clubs have travelled to Europe, US and Caribbean with me many times using a Club Glove bag. It isn't a hard case, which I think is rather unwieldy (had one, got rid of it), but is otherwise pretty bulletproof. I don't use the bromhandle, but I have been known to pack my waterproofs or golf towels around the club heads.

Yup, I use a club love bag too.. had my bag tossed around and was also opened by the TSA in Chicago, but everything survived.
1) took the driver head off and it travelled in my carry on.
2) banded a few clubs together into the same hole and pput a sock on their head... That way nothing moved and they would nnotdamage thetlonger graphite shafts.
3) put towels, waterproof etc in the top half so, had extra padding.

Good luck with ur competition. If you are going to be on Tour then worth investing in a Club Love bag - it's the bees knees..
