Acclaimed TV shows you just don't 'get'

The Office, or as someone else posted, anything with Ricky Gervais in it.
Downton
Breaking Bad
Sons of Anarchy

In fact there's mountains of series that I just don't bother with, but that might be because I don't watch a huge amount of TV.

Monty Python.....there I've said it.
Tin hat on.

More recently -
Killing Eve and Riviera I've tried hard with as mrs likes them but not doing it for me, sorry.

Breaking Bad I loved to start with but by 2nd series gave up. US drama shows generally just go on way too long.

Only ever seen 3 series, Chernobyl, Curfew, and GOT.

Wouldn't bother watching another.

Have tried 24, lost, walking dead, and West wing. Have never got more than a few episodes in before thinking they were tosh.

For me
The Office
Poldark after series one (too many scenes of just a man riding along the cliff top)

I never watched Downton Abbey so no comment

Most long running soaps.

For me there are/have been a lot of good series that never new when to stop. NCIS for example.

For me Game of Thrones (may try it again in a few years when the hype has died down.)

Breaking bad - again to hyped up.

Loved the Wire.

The office aka Ricky Gervais. I have had funnier haemorrhoids. I watched him in a charity gig, he had to hold the fort for five minutes. Keep the crowd entertained. He died a death. No script, no funny.

Never watched GOT.
Walking dead. Three series to long.

Where as Phoenix nights, now we're talking.

I really liked the office - Dave Brent was a brilliant character. Then I saw something else that Gervais was in and I realised David Brent isn't a character - he was playing himself and he is that annoying.

Never got Game of Thrones either (and in general I like gratuitous sex and violence). Was just too dull. After three episodes nothing much had happened and I didn't like anyone. I tried listening to the first audiobook of the series of books. After 2 hours I was still only about 15 minutes into the slow and boring TV version. God it was turgid.

Absolutely love Killing Eve and the Sopranos tho.

Loved The Office - for me some of the best TV ever and the only box set I've ever bought. Worked in offices all my life and so many of the characters were such great caricatures of those I've worked with/for. Loved Gareth, Tim and his relationship with Dawn most of all. A guy I worked with at the time loved it too and we would enact scenes like people used to with Monty Python.

Never got Downton or any period drama stuff.
Game of Thrones (David loves it so watches when I'm out)
Star Trek
Dr Who

With you on the Monty Python thing. Thought the odd one decent, and I loved most of the Life of Brian apart from the space ship thing.

I don’t think anybody got it. I have seen all of it and I am not sure what it is about. I even listened to podcasts about it.

Apart from that I never sat through anything else I didn’t like. So I didn’t try s lot of things rather than try and not get it.

I loved Sons of Anarchy possibly my favourite ever series. It's also about the only thing Charlie Hunnam was any good in.

I need to add another to my list..

Dr Who... Tried to like it but just bores me to tears and its trying to hard to be entertaining and quirky but it's just not.
