A round with Alliss

Music Box Dancer - Frank Mills. Was a big hit at the time.

Watched this video a couple of months back, not thinking for a moment that Parky would be gone by my next birthday.

Lovely.

Round with Alliss was more like a sixth of a round.
Playing just 3 holes with a strong suspicion that celebs had only the best of several shots televised.
More junk TV from the BBC.

It was more of an interview with a guest with a bit of golf thrown in on the side and was never intended to be watched as a sporting spectacle. :)

I had a quick look at it.

I know that Peter Allis was a great player, obviously way better (on a different planet) than I could ever hope to be.
But does anyone else think that his putting stroke is incredibly wristy?
Every putting lesson I've had, or tip I've seen, tells me to keep the hands out of the stroke.
And yet he was putting well by pretty much hinging his wrists.
Just goes to show that whatever works for you is fine.

Wristy strokes dominated the game for many years before we switched to more of a shoulder action.

Thumper's Mum has it spot on

If You Can't Say Something Nice, Then Don't Say Nuffin At All

And the prize for ripping the joy out of a thread goes to .............

That's restored my joy. One of my favourite scenes is Thumper teaching Bambi to day "birDa" :-) Just watched on you tube.

Closely followed by the spaghetti scene from Lady and The Tramp...

Happy Days (loved The Fonz too) :-)

Wasn't his car registration 3 PUT or something similar (or am I confusing him with the Pro at High Elms some 25 years ago)?

Have a go with some putters from the 1930s and see what works with them.
That is how Peter son of Percy would have learned to putt.
Watch the putting stroke of some of the top players in the 1930s and 40s on you tube to see how they did it.
Putters and putting is a different business today.

Very wristy putting swing being taught here
