Maybe one of you gents/ladies can help me refresh my memory a little. In the late seventies I seem to remember catching a programme that featured Peter Aliss , microphone in hand, having a casual stroll round a parkland course in the company of Sandy Lyle. My rusty memory suggests it was teeming down for the most part but this didn't deter them from having a nice little convivial chat between semi-instructional golf shots.

My abiding memory of this programme is of something quite sedate, cathartic and civilized - worlds away from the moronic, skynewsification and putt-fest that is contemporary US golf coverage.

I'm going to do my own research obviously(including on here) but if anyone can come up with a source where this programme/series can be still be bought them I would be most grateful if you could let me know.

Thanks,

bill

I too remember with great fondness this programme (the likes of which would never stand a chance these days) but I would consider the chances of you finding this via download or the BBC somewhere between slim and none...

...and slim just left town.

In recent months it has been shown on the Setanta Golf Channel, sure it will be repeated if your a subscriber to that, you can record it.

Ask the editor if he can have a word with peters son, He is a GM profiled pro and if anyone would have a copy of Mr Aliss's tv stuff you would imagine it would be his son.

A top bloke that Mr Aliss can listen to him all day.

setanta golf have a series with Aliss that airs now and then, think it was made a few years ago. It is Aliss with various guests.

Thanks all,

sadly i'm not part of the Setanta/Sky+ tellybox generation yet so don't have that avenue available to me.

I would be slightly reticent about trying to contact the Ed. of GM about something like this and would justifyably expect short shrift if I suggested passing such a request onto to Mr. Aliss junior.

Nice thinking though.

If anything turns up i'll post it on here.
