A lot of talk about brands has got me thinking..................

So we all have our own perception on golf club brands, and someone liken'd TM to Vauxhall in another thread.

So what brand off golf club is what make of car?

TM - BMW 3 Series. A lot of folks 'think' that they're the best, and the model range is about as confusing. It's about the image isn't it?

MD - Ford Mondeo. A perfectly good car, does everything it's supposed to, and goes quite well. Just lacks 'pavement appeal' and 'neighbour envy'.

Nike - Any mini hot hatch (Saxo, Clio etc). You know you shouldn't like them, well not at your age. But there's something about them. You may even feel slightly put out that the youngsters get something quite so 'hip' to drive when all you had was an old Escort or Cortina that used to be your mums!

It is the 3-series because although it drives no better than the mondeo, the pilot has to have the name-badge!

Titleist - Jaguar. For the gentlemen who knows exactly what he likes and likes the feel of quality engineering and precision.

Callaway = Audi. Has to have the showiest and what they think is the best. Never mind that the VW/Skoda equivilent is just as good as the Audi, you just dont get the kerbside cred with those do you, just like callway, who's going to be impressed with cobra clubs when you can flash your shiny x22's about!

On another note Volvo's are big Very forgiving dependable reliable and long just like my Cobra S2's.....

Ping, Callway & Cobra - Land Rover Freelander / Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Big ugly things owned by people who believe they own the road simply because they brought a car that is bigger than they need. Also it make them feel 'safe' guzzling gas at between 1 to 25 Mph around town during busy periods.
Cars also come with a false sense of being a great parent/person due to the 'safety' factor and being that they look down upon the average driver struggle to comprehend this is only a view from their car.

Cobra.... not showy but utterly reliable.

Srixon = Lexus. Not seen very often, understated yet classy.

Wilson - lotus not seen very often, not the most expensive but driven by an expert.

Mizuno/Titleist - porsche boxer, serious wannabe driver who deludes himself that he can handle it.

Ping - vauxhall,ford,renault safe buy everybodies got one.

TM - Fiat, new model every year basically same as last year but with more buttons and different funky trim.

Callaway - Cherokee Jeep, nuff said

Nike - Mazda mx3, not quite sure what it is

Adams - Kia

Erm. Probably only Callaway. As others have said, just far too chunky for my eye.

Having frequented this forum for a couple of months now, whenever I change my irons, I will be looking at Mizzy's and Titleist first. They seem to "fit the bill" for me so to speak.

Nike - it's the clapped out fiesta/105/metro/ that's been passed around then suddenly appears with a new paint job and big-bore exhaust but it still has the same engine!

Mizuno - Lexus, you've heard a lot about how good/reliable they are but don't actually know anyone who's got one

Ping - like to think they are Volvo's but underneath it's a Fiat,

TM - BMW, they make so many models across the range that one of them should suit you; hard bit is finding which one.

Callaway - Saab. you think you're getting something sporty but it's a bit overweight and underneath there's always something missing.

Callaway, hummer ( one trick pony)
Titleist, vw golf (good general choice and decent hotter models)
MD, Subaru (fantastic wedges with input from seve and Norman drew, also do run of the mill models that don't sell as many)
TM, vauxhall, new model daily.
King cobra, see ping but no gloves.
Cleveland, lotus, only does sporty models but not to everyones liking.

I can see this whole "likening golf clubs to cars" thread evolving into a regular feature in the GM Mag with a different forumer each week hitting the longest drive they can with a Slazenger K1 ......

Forumer with a reasonably priced driver.

Dear oh dear. I've driven both and if I had to take one around a track it wouldn't be the Ford. If I had to take one on the A49 from Whitchurch - Hereford not hanging around, it wouldn't be the Ford either. Simples.

The badge on the car has nothing to do with it. Like golf clubs....it's what gets the job done.

Once you get into the realms of the diesels or 6-pots however, the BMW does come into its own and being honest, A 2.5V6 mondey is no match for a tooled up 330.

Yes, I agree. I'm just grateful I bought my BMW for a Mondeo price. They are silly money and (as much as I like mine) wouldn't say they are worth it.
