Played Formby Hall yesterday with a society from my place, green fee of £25 from 4pm which has to go down as one of the best value green fee's I've ever paid.

There's a Europro event there in a week or so so it was in absolutely tip top shape, greens were incredible and the fairways running very fast.

First time I've played round there and loved it, really is a good course. Pot bunkers and water all over the place so every shot you hit there is trouble around and you need to think around it a bit.

Which is why I was surprised I played well. 37 points and a win on the day so some nice AG vouchers to spend :).

Good day all round, may well find myself back there shortly for the £25 after 4pm while the light is still good enough for it.

Blimey, that looks lovely! £25 seems a steal. Must remember that if I'm ever up that way.

Congrats on the win too! Always a nice bonus on away days.

I played Formby Hall earlier this month too, and I was impressed.

However, when I played it I really wasn't sure about the condition of the course. However, by the sounds of things they have improved.

Scoring 37 points is impressive round there as it can be tough to play to handicap. I had 32 and came 4th (T-1 was 33).

The one thing I liked was the linkish bunkers even if they did look a bit odd inland.

The highlight for me was me birdie on the 18th having nearly chipped in for an eagle!!

The bunkers are a bit weird, seeing proper links bunkers on a parkland course! I was only in one on the 17th fairway and had to hit it back down the fairway as it was against the side. I did well to avoid them all day I think!

A really enjoyable day out, the greens were immense, I've never holed so many putts because they're so true.
