Algy, at the risk of sounding patronising, it actually does sound like a dubious effort to offload a bit of property on any given golf related site. There is a recession on and you never once even said hello to anyone.
For this reason, im out.

Hi Brendy,

It is a genuine sale and not any scam or off-load as you put it. It is extremely close to an International golf course and would therfore be of genuine interest to many golfers. I personally don't play albeit I have actually hit a few buckets on that range.
There is a recession but people still buy properties in recessions in the same way I suspect you keep up yur golfing memberships.
The offer of sale is there, I believe it to be polite and honest and I have used my correct details. if you had a proerty for sale next to an exceptional Fly fishing lake would you not offer it to people on a Game Fishing Forum?
Seems a reasonable step to me but thanks for looking anyway and have a happy Christmas

I'm dubious as well, whilst you may be genuine as a person it is still just a grab at free advertising. Using a property letting agency would be a more honest approach. I can't fault you for trying, but it is still impolite to just try and use the forum as a free method of advertising for a scarcely golf related product.

I agree. Property sales especially overseas are contentious and risky especially dealing directly with an unknown and potentially fraudulent newbie on a website. It is just free publicity and your sales pitch is not exactly strong on the golfing front. I think you have misjudged the correct place to sell and you would get more potential interest through an estate agent dealing in overseas property or a specialised golf property firm. Sadly in both cases that would probably cost you money hence the budget approach. I'm sorry but I'd never enter into negotiations with a 3rd party I'd never met or knew nothing about. I'm out

Many thanks for the tip ref Todays Golfer, I will put it there a well.
For the information of those interested in the Golfing oppurtnitise in general:
The golf course is (IMHO) superb and well worth a visit. The North of Cyprus are NOT in the Euro but use as a main currency Turkish Lira and sterling is widely used and accepted everwhere, indeed most prices are displayed in Sterling. The reason this should be of particular note to you guys wishing for a summer golfing break is of course that of the terrible exchange rates sterling is experiencing. this may be an alternative to those expensive overseas holidays that are canning the UK holiday maker. Summers are very long and obviously very hot. The alternatives to golf there for families is mainly water based or of historic interest. A very large British presence is on the Island and moreso now in the North. The airport of Larnacca in the south is generally used and is about 45 mins drive away. There are no problems for Bristish passport holders going South to North.

If anyone wishes to consider a rent there I may consider that (providing it hasnt sold of course) at very sensible rates. Has 2x double bed rooms.

Regards

Algy

Homer,

The imput above was for the benefit of all generally ref the golfing oppurtunities in Cyprus, I see no reason to be rude to me?

My offer at sale and renting to the golfers was genuine, honest and polite. Clearly I am not welcome and my imput not appreciated and misguided.

I would suspect that the majority of those reading this thread may take it at face value of a guy that is simply offering people that may be genuingly inetrested in a Golfing holiday home or a golfing holiday. I know nothing of golf or golfers but do know uncalled for rudeness when I see it.

I suspect you are a very good golfer but may need to polish up on your interactive skills,

Merry Christmas to you all and happy golf in 2009

For goodness sake.....genuine or not, this part of the forum is for buying and selling golf gear. Every time you put up some one-in-a-million-chance-of-a-sale advert everyone's homeless gear (which is actually of use to normal everyday folk who aren't so minted as to be able to afford overseas property) gets sent off the bottom of the page.

Algy, I apologise for some of the cynics on here. Though I doubt, they are repentive...lol

Had I the funds & the Passport, not to mention closer to retirement age I might have been a bit interested.

Though I will say I was hoping the link would have shown me an advert for the property mentioned, with some nice colour photo's layout plan of the property as well as dimentions, much in the way as If I were going into an estate agent I'd want all these details & more besides. And not simply a link to the nearest Golf club

I pay my annual subs still yes, its 830 quid, not the 65k you are asking for. Also for what its worth, the south is a far nicer area and has a friendlier atmosphere, though more expensive to live/stay in. Having been there quite a few times I wouldnt stay in the north if you paid me due to the not so distant past and most of the folk living there are turkish, not cypriot but now isn't the time for politics.
Please accept these responses as means to saying no thanks and try advertising in a paid manner.

No need to apologise on this cynics behalf. I find it rather insulting that a) you would speak for me and b) that someone would come onto a buy and sell forum aimed at golf GEAR and try and sell a property. It just smacks of bypassing advertising costs, especially as a first time poster.

algy

We have had a plague of similar posts in recent months and some have been far more blatant than yours. You put forward a good case but my point is that this is not really the ideal market for such an offer and the buy and sell is for forum members (ideally who have already conversed on topics on the main forum) to sell their unwanted clubs etc.

As a final point my interaction skills particulalrly the etiquette of web forums is fine. I'm sorry if you find the harsh truth of my opinion difficult but I make no bones for voicing my concerns

'tis the season of goodwill to all men, even to
obvious 'chancer'
types.

Listen, you up for a swap ?

I've got a three year old Sand Wedge which was recently regripped, but alas the face is becoming a bit worn and doesn't quite get a grip on the ball the way it used to.

I'll swap you it, for your place in ... where is it again, I've seen so many of these recently.

Well, worth a try.

Homer..!

Insulting... Humph.! The cynics on here should listen to themselves... Embaressing that's what it is that the cynics are guilty of. To think I would want to be associated with that sort of behaviour...

Now, there are ways to be cynical & ways not to be...!

Some of those cynics on here that think they are oh so much better than some others because of their post count, should be ashamed of themselves.

As for golf related items. May I remind them the heading is "For Sale/Wanted"

As it happens the Accomodation advertised is at least partially golf related, assuming its in very easy reach of the course in question. And some of us might actually be interested.

Algy... Get some proper advertising promote the property properly & then put in a decent link to what you are actually selling, then someone may actually listen & ignore the very vocal minority that seem to think they run the show, just because they have a lot of posts to their name. As someone might actually be interested. There again there may not be But Homer is right about something & you cannot rely upon free advertising, somewhere along the line advertising has to be paid for.

Now if nothing else I'd like to see some actual pics of this penthouse, if nothing else I like window shopping & like to see what is out there.

Cernunnos,

"May I remind them the heading is "For Sale/Wanted""

The second part says "buy and sell used golf equipment"

I've yet to see an appartment for sale in the second hand bin at my pro shop! The guys a chancer, out for some free advertising.

As for Post Count, it's quality rather than quantity that this forum needs now, from everyone, otherwise it will end up like some of the other forums out there.

Some Items are certainly more golf related than others & at least the appartment might be of interest to some of us that may wish to play golf over there. So golf related even if in a tenuous way.

... So what, if someone wants some free advertising let them. As soon as interest wanes the thread falls off the front page & is forgotten about. People can either choose to read an advert or ignore it. Simple.

Exactly & some especially the cynics could do well to remember this. Alienating the rest of us is certainly not the way to go about it.

Thing is I agree with you, but the slightly different angle of the same viewpoint does make for an interesting experience. And certainly more interesting than watching the Television...

When the best & only thing I can find this time of night is The Lost Room repeated on Sky 2 1000 channels & nowt on.

There again on a slow news day like this three forums & very little worth commenting on & the result is clear a few threads on putting & what everyone will do in 2009, oh & a few word games. word games are OK but tbh only in the end push up post counts & serve about as much use as playing Suduko.... I mean, there is only ever going to be those same 9 numbers in a line & only one solution, it can only provide interest for so long.

Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

As I said at the start of the thead, If I had a passport... well...rofl.

Hmmmm... Intriguing. Do you realise that in the 5 months or so that you have been on the forum, you have one of the highest post count per month (and no, Homer is not the highest!). The words pot and kettle come to mind.....

Anyway. To all and sundry, have a great Christmas.
