well after shooting a crappy 102 off 28 h.c a net 74 +5 I thought I would be right down the bottom. It was crappy weather with rain and a swirly wind which in all honesty didnt bother me all round and was hitting my irons better than ever.

finished equal 10th (12th on countback) and I have to say I so could have done a lot better with a silly 8 on the 1st taking 4 to get down from the fringe!!! a 9 on the 18th par 5 after hitting my drive o/b.

Obviously a lot must have struggled with the weather also, so I feel a little chuffed albeit disappointed with my total score as really want to get my h/c down a bit. All in good time :)

Not bad for a first outing at all...
And in that weather - well, weather's an even bigger leveller thatn Golf itself.

Look on the bright side - nett, you murdered Aztec's score!! :D :D :D :D
Sorry JonBoy..!

Well done.. getting the first one out of the way is a milestone.

I remember being quite nervous on mine, and you do learn how to play competitive golf this way.

well done

Good work G1BB0, Aslong as you don't come last I say!

I had a similar medal on Saturday, playing off 24.4, +6 through 9! ruined my score in 3 holes but finished on 98. Outright 5th, only 4 shots short of 1st in the whole medal..

I did get a 0.4 cut though which was unexpected!

:(

Nice one Gibbo! Glad someone had a good first comp weekend!

nah, should and could have been a lot better, all part of the process tho Jon, our time will come ;)

off this week so playing tomorrow, weds and saturday with a bit of range time inbetween. A female won the comp so she is my new target and we are both off 28 albeit women play the reds (so unfair tbh)!

Shame the weather is still pants this week grrrrr

nice 1 philly. The trouble I have is I look at my score without handicap and its effectively 33 over :(

I know what you mean, but handicaps are there for a reason that's why we are not on tour! Just learn from your mistakes and put the work in, it will pay off. Also take the positives, I found I was swinging easy through 11 holes, when I thought I could be winning the comp, I started swinging harder and playing shots I can't!

You'll get down easy, always takes a few comps to settle nerves.

I'm going to take this week off, before hopefully playing on Saturday when I head back to Lincolnshire.

Although, if the weather stays like it is, I'm not playing. I'm never playing in the rain again after yesterday! :D

pffft, fair weather golfers ;)

I am off fishing thursday and supposed to be pants weather all day, seriously thinking of not going, nothing is fun in the rain!!

nothing is fun in the rain!!

Female bikini mud wrestling?

So thats what was going on in the bunkers before I went in them - looked like a we had had wilderbeast wandering the course.

To be fair though with the sand wet any amount of surface distruption or even a perfect lie would not have helped my shocking sand play. I just coud not get my head around it.

Dropped 8 shots (yes eight) in the sand one way or another - left one in a bunker three times and then managed to get it a whole 1 yard out!! :o :o

Trouble was I ended up 6 over nett and 8 off the overall winner - doh!!

Time for a lesson
