After 7 months of not playing golf (except a weekend in april for the father in laws 60th) I went for 9 holes with a mate yesterday...

I didnt have time with the range or anything so straight to the first tee and down the middle it goes :)
Happy days i thought. Well from then on the whole 9 holes were great off the tee but as soon as I was approaching the greens from 100 and in I was purely awful.
So what turned into possible/probable pars meant missing greens and bogey golf came into play.

Felt rather annoyed that my length was good on approaches but my lines were crap. I suppose I shouldn't be too annoyed if I haven't really played for ages.

Moral of the story.. work on your 100 yards and in if you want to score well.

Oh an when people say having kids will stop your social life (playing golf) they were right!
Enjoy your freedom while you still have it guys!

I am coming out the other side now that my boy is 9. I will be playing more golf in future I hope with him.

You are right about the importance of the wedge game. I am surprised its the accruacy part that is costing you. Fuller shots (with longer irosn) tend to go a good distance but the accuracy is lacking. Wedges tend to be accurate and good length lacking. Check the bascis (ball position, allingnment etc) and do not try to hit your wedges flat out.
