looking to book up a 1 or 2 night 2/3 round deal but not sure where. Theres myself off 21, a 9 handicapper and another who is off 28 and 65 y/o so obviously nothing too demanding or hilly.

What courses/resorts would you recommend? Not too far away from Home counties although may consider further as we all drive and car sharing

It will be beginning October (so cheaper aswell, result)

Received an email today from yourgolftravel dot com saying that they have a few deals on. I haven't paid much attention to it yet but could be worth checking out for a few ideas.

Yep I was going to suggest the same.

IF you wand a reasonable price, not too far, hotel on site and 2 courses then you could do worse than Greetham Valley. Also nice pub and food within a couple of miles (was in there on Friday night as it happens)

I'd stay away from portal the robbing so an so's cost me £13.95 for fish an chips that came with a fish around 5 inch long and 6 chips

Donnington grove would be a good shout. Cracking course, good hotel and food. They usually do deal like you mention for around 100 quid..

have a look at Gainsborough GC. Home of Ping, and has two courses, the Karsten Lakes and Thonock Park. I have played the Lakes course before with JustOne and it is very, very nice.
Gainsborough have two 4 bed aparments (2 x twin rooms each) on site and do a variety of deals.
Their "Sunday Driver" deal has to be the deal of the decade if you don't mind staying on the Sunday night.
One round on either course on the Sunday afternoon, 3 course evening meal, overnight accommodation, full english breakfast followed by another round of golf on monday morning. All for the princely sum of £60.00!! Further details can be found on their website here...

An overnight stay in a "reasonable" hotel with evening meal and breakfast would cost you at least this, so the golf, effectively, is for free! And as I say, the Karsten Lakes course is a cracker. Not played the Thonock Park course, but that will be rectified soon!
Four of us are nipping up there at the end of the month, playing one round Sunday, two rounds on Monday and another round on Tuesday morning, overnight accommodation and all meals for £135.00 each! That is a fantastic deal.
Because I have played the Karsten Lakes course before, we are playing that 3 times and only playing the Thonock course once.....but you can play any variety you like.
I understand that the Karsten Lakes course was purposely designed and built by Ping when they bought Gainsborough GC to hold the Solheim Cup there, but this never happened. As you can imagine, it is a "stadium" type course with lots of mounds down the side of each fairway to enable good viewing by spectators, and as the name suggests there is plenty of water around to make things exciting, but this isn't overdone in my opinion.
And it has possibly one of the best par 4's on there that I have ever played.
Rob

PS. I'm up early 'cos I is going fishing this morning!!

lucky git Rob, catch a big un

will check out Gainsborough, sounds ideal and may well see if I can get a fitting booked in while there... better get these fags quit and some pennies saved up haha

If you can stetch as far north as Shropshire, I'd suggest Hawkstone Park.

2 Courses and over night stay would be available.

Not too hilly, actually pretty flat, but a good test.
