Would you rather play poorly and somehow have a decent score or strike the ball really well but somehow not score so well?
I shot a 3 over gross, missed most fairways and greens, but my short game rescued me.
Another time I shot 6 over, hit nearly every fairway and green but just couldn't get...
I think I know a couple of these guys...played against a 17 h/c and a 24 h/c and they were level and 1 over after 9-holes, needless to say we didn't win...
...I've always been a fan of ditching handicaps altogether, then the problem is removed instantly :D
I have Hogan Apex Blade 1 & 2 irons...they look like butter knives.
I use them on the range now and again but don't have them in my bag very often.
The 1-iron is great when I get it right, but I get it wrong more...and that's off the tee, no chance off the deck.
I have a 7-wood that I hit 220...
Practicing the right techniques with the 3-wood will help, irrespective of manufacturer.
As the saying goes 'you'll only ever get out of your game what you put into it'...and the more good shots you hit with your 3-wood...the more good shots you will hit with your 3-wood.
Everyone has a club...
Another consideration is how repeatable your swing is. If you get tested on a day when you swing well you will get different results than on the day you swing poorly.
I've been through the ftting process and its definitely worthwhile, but keep in mind that we're all different and only you will...
I played a couple of years on the Volvo Amateur Tour. It used to be called the Fore Tour.
It's very well set up and is run by David Hughes of GMM ltd.
There are 20 or so events each season, with 4 of them being classed as majors. Win a major and qualify for the season finals.
Players win...
I think the rule change will help the longer hitters on tour.
I've seen many tour players not go as long as they could because it's harder to take the 'right' amount of spin off their next shot when playing a shorter pitch. With less spin being generated it will give the green light to go...
My club are quite flexible with single players...plug the ipod in and relax!
I play some 'negative scramble' with two balls, it makes you sharper for your next round.
It's also the best conversation I get all week as I live with all girls :)
The general consensus is that lengthening the hole will spoil things.
If changes have to be made, why not do the opposite and bring the tee forward 100 yards and let the big boys try and stop their drive on the green...risk and reward at its best :)
...it would be good viewing on day 4 if...
Like most of us here I like to try to win each time I play. I definitely prefer to play under Medal conditions, I play off a lower handicap than most of the players in my club and it just gets too hard to win against the higher handicaps.
If they shot a 10 in stableford, they get nil points...
Hi Chipsandegg
I went through the whole CF set up with an independent. I spent about £1200 and had no big brand names in my bag. I got KZG - which are big in the states apparently.
When my game is on, I get great results with them but when it's off it's awful.
I stoppped using them and...
