We are just about to start out winter league where we play a 9 hole pairs better ball stableford, top 5 scores count out of 8 rounds.
Last year we played 75% of half handicap as it is 9 holes, this year we are proposing going to 90% of half which means most people get one extra shot and some of...
Sounds like a great idea to write to the course / Captain and play with them and offer to return the favour, just need to get the wording right and not just say can I come and play your course for free if I let you play mine
I am very fortunate to Club Captain this year and I have would love to play some of best courses in the UK.
I received courtsey of the course and had a great day at Southport and Ainsdale, what it the best course you have ever got courtesy at and did it live up to expectations?
Are you aware...
We have 5 comps from on our majors board, Juniors must be off single figures and women don't qualify to be on them as they have their own major comp boards
I've seen a couple too, on the 18th at Sandiway Golf Club from a senior who missed it himself. The other was mine on the 9th at MacDonald Cardrona Hotel near Peebles on a free round I got from my Golf Insurance
The only 'Men Only' competition we have at our club is the singles where juniors have to be single figures to enter.
Our four other majors are all part of order of merit meaning Ladies can enter but it is a club rule to say that they can't go on the majors board.
The argument is that the...
If you get a 28 handicap and then don't play in any comps until you have improved to say the standard of 22 and clean up in the Major board comps then you may get some ill feeling and sarcastic comments. My advice would be integrate yourself on the social side as much as possible, play with lots...
I though the new rules were optional, lots of great points raised on here, you can never keep everyone happy.
As as far as I am concerned the more the comps wins are spread around the better, don't want to lose the low handicappers but they don't have a devine right to win the comps.
We may...
I agree with you, no one has a right to win all the time, 5 and 7 players both played close to level par and lost so were unlucky. The theory says that is you are more consistent then you are more likely to progress. We all know that if you come up against someone and you have a bad day or...
in the first round this year my partner was giving 17 and 19 shots while I think I got 7. We struggled to beat a pair that were 79 and 68 years old female members due to the shots. Combined handicap was 61 and there was 65 year difference in the youngest and oldest player in the 4-ball.
Keen...
Thanks HomerJSimpson Good plan.
Any thoughts on a good number to take? nice number to make it social but not too many to that it is a nightmare to organise.
Where have people's best away days been? and what format for the golf, our standard format is Captain vs Vice Captain Pairs then...
I am comp sec and we have been debating the pros and cons of the proposed handicap suggestions.
A lot of long term members were concerned that two mid to high handicappers were going to win our main pairs comp. We play 3/4 difference and if we move to the recommendations then the higher...
