    WHS doesn't work

That's what I noticed at my course when we swapped over. The really low guys under congu (2 and under) all went down further. We went from having maybe 1 or 2 guys being a plus to 8 or 9. The 3 to 12 range didn't change that much, I was off 9 under congu and when we changed over my initial index...

    Gore-Tex shoes for golf

I must have been lucky with my shoes as the only pair that claimed to be waterproof but were crap were a pair of Footjoy Boa things. The instance I stepped in the rough the water came in at the uppers where the tongue and upper meet. Other than that, all the ones I've had that said they were...

    GPS apps and phone accuracy.

Depends what you mean by "absolutely accurate". If you are happy for it to be within 3 yards or so then yes, GPS on your phone should be good enough. If you are hoping for the GPS to be within 1 or 2 feet then nope, GPS isn't there yet.

"Smooth striking" is a very nice way of saying "Violent hack" As @Lord Tyrion said his putting was very impressive (mine was pretty poor except lag putting which was great) and he has certainly got his monies worth from his new 19° hybrid already. I think he used that as often as his...

    WHS doesn't work

Net score. They are stableford or net scores in brackets depending on the comp.

    I bought today.....

I'm always wary of those too good to be true deals on eBay, especially someone that has sold 91 of them but doesn't appear to be a golf dealer. Screams "straight off a boat from China" to me but could be completely wrong.

    Changing putter grips to Superstroke

Opposite for me, my pace control has become much better since switching to one. I've got a Traxion Tour 3.0 and the first thing I noticed was I was getting the ball to the hole and past it on longer putts for the first time in ages instead of leaving them miles short. I don't think I could go...

    WHS doesn't work

Just went through a few of our last board comps and sweeps and the winning handicaps and net or points (I just guessed some since we play so many stablefords and looked at their points compared to their posted score so might be 1 shot out here or there) 19 (67), 19 (44), 16 (40), 3 (38), 9...

Medal entry numbers at your club

Do you not have a lot of members under 10? No one under 10 winning in 2 years it a bit mental. Maybe time for your club to introduce divisions.

How are comps ran at your club?

Mine is like that. Most Saturday's from April till end of September are reserved from 7am till 3pm for the competition. £2 comp, £1 sweep, £1 2's. Before WHS the only way to get a handicap was to play in a comp so I don't have an issue with it. I don't think I've played a single round at my home...

How are comps ran at your club?

Ours only got fancy this season. I feel really let down now on the days the internet isn't working and I have to write my name on a card.

    Would you have carried on....

I've learned my lesson after something like that this year. Had a 10 on a par 4 when I tried to hack out of bushes rather than taking stroke and distance which would have sent me back to the tee. Ended up shooting 74 with the 10, was -2 for the other 17 holes. Bet he takes stroke and distance...

    Would you have carried on....

After an 8 and an 18 you are essentially out the competition anyway so you just NR any other bad holes and they go down as net double bogey anyway for handicap purposes. I've NR'd a few medals when I was having a shocker, no point in prolonging things and holding people up.

How are comps ran at your club?

At ours you pay in to the comp at the pro shop, so that's why it's cash or club card. The pro then gives you your card with you name, index, course and playing handicap stuck onto it. It's pretty seamless when the internet connection is working as he uses some sort of label printer that must...

Went away for the weekend with our society and played Stonehaven both days. Looked at the card and thought I'd hate it as it's only 5000 yards and a par 66 but it was great fun, the views were stunning and there were some really nice holes as well. Greens were good as well when you could find...
