Great thread and I am a member of the interviewing club. It is an opportunity to find out about the social opportunities, bounce games, dress code on the course and all other things that will help the joinee feel comfortable.
There are standards which then ensure that there is no stuffiness...
Probably in the 11-20 category. Best was a 170yd hook out of trees with a seven iron for a two on the second at Kettering. Had birdies the first so I stood shaking like a leaf at -3 on the third tee !
Well done fish - my 10 year old played this year and last year and it is a great competition made special by the volunteer chaperones.
You missed one other heart warming story on the day. The young lad who is 9 years old and won the net competition with 50 (yes 50) points playing off an age...
For me it would be
le Tousserok Mauritius
Waterville
Pebble Beach
Brandon Dunes
Pinehurst no 2
Muirfield
Cape Kidnappers and
Aberdovey (because you would all like to revisit your first love again whomever you are married to now)
Yes was really chuffed to read of your success and have been away (from the forum) for a while, new job etc, but I think 11.1 is beyond me. I have been playing lovely and finding different ways to buffer at 12.6, for example as a good putter you could imagine my delight at leaving 5 yes 5 putts...
I like to see people fill divots on tees whilst they are waiting to play. It does my head in that people stand and stare and moan about slow play when they could take their minds off it and improve the course by filling in half a dozen divots.
I have to admit that I am one of the sad bitter (but not twisted) folks whose instant reaction is that there is something dishonest about your handicap. My rule of thumb is that the magical net 59 is seen say once every 5 years on the tour. Your net 55 has never been seen before. I would cosy...
I think the challenge is more about "colts" than "kids". We have lots of clubs with thriving junior sections and kids of a really good standard or simply a love of the game.
However, and forgive the generalisation, when they go to university as more kids are encouraged to do these days...
did it a few years ago playing 4 different courses (starting at 4:30) and raising £10k (we did it for make a wish). All the courses gave us courtesy but/and I think we could have raised more money with better marketing at the clubs we were playing (eg collection buckets in the proshop, notices...
I have played a few courses I would consider to be awful but in a couple of cases that was down to the location and funding which was pretty unique so the course on Ratcliffe Power Station in Nottingham is a flat glorified par 3 with tiny bunkers and no character but it is part of the social...
yes but your brain builds the learning creating something called myelin which is apparently much easier to do as you are young for example learning all the complicated norms and routines involved in learning to talk as a child compared to the relative difficulty of mastering a new language which...

The ladies top 10 is currently dominated by South Korea following the success some years ago of Se Ri Pak. Do you think that the current crop of British and Irish girls coming through (yourself, Charlie Hull, Bronte Law the McGuire twins etc) might see a...
Ahh SB it is first blood to me - twas our first medal too, course played brutally long with fast lumpy greens and despite 3 missed tiddlers I nudged in an 86 which with a CSS of 74 might mean a little cut...... when I left the club only 1 player had beat handicap and 1 player (mini Scadge) had...
As for male readership having no general interest in ladies then I think there may be a load of publications which would go out of business if that were genrally the case.
So whilst I agree absolutely with the need for GM to concentrate on commercial reality my question is whether a male...
