    Mixed tee competitions

Why do these threads always go off track? I asked a simple question (and it didn’t include anything about gender, merits of whs etc etc). I will repeat the question “the club are considering playing our mens Trophy/honours board comps as mixed tees rather than a single tee, what do other clubs do?

    Mixed tee competitions

Thanks, agree as we already run many mixed tee comps which work very well and are well received. I’m more interested if clubs who already do this (like us) are considering taking that extra leap, and making their trophy/honours board comps mixed tee too (not necessarily gender as both the mens...

    Mixed tee competitions

yes, perception is the tricky issue, however we have been running mixed tee comps since WHS came live, and their is no evidence that the winners play a particular set of tees, it’s pretty even tbh.

    Mixed tee competitions

Our club are currently considering whether to have all (95%) of our club competitions (including trophy comps) played from mixed tees (e.g. whites and yellows) both sets of Tees have different course ratings. What do other clubs do? Do any intend to use this model?

    Golf Genius Software

Do any clubs out there use the Golf Geniius software for a fully integrated shop/membership and competition solution, interested to find out if it works, it’s ease of use and would it be recommended over over systems such as Club V1 & howdidido? Or do most of those that use the software just use...

Shot 70 but DQ'ed and given a score of 106

WHS has changed a lot of things, including the handicap secretary’s/team responsibilities e.g application of penalty scores, competition DQs are no longer directly linked to a 0.1 handicap increase, DQ’d scores are can still be Eligible for handicap dependent upon why Dq has been applied, Min...

Shot 70 but DQ'ed and given a score of 106

At our club we have hundreds of casual scores a month and at least a dozen competitions, that is a lot of cards for volunteers to Wade through every day!! Under whs it is no longer viable for volunteers who are giving up their own time to do this anymore, electronic HAS to be the way ahead...

Shot 70 but DQ'ed and given a score of 106

This is absolutely correct, we ask our players to submit their scores electronically by howdidido app/psi but they must retain their card for at least a week. Should a player fail to return their score by electronic means we chase them up, and they have 24 hrs to return a copy of the original...

    Golf leagues.

Exactly, adjusted scores for handicap purpose are always calculated against course handicap but comps are based on playing handicap. Therefore, for competition purpose when playing a Stableford, it’s always nice to know that your score is based on the playing handicap of 95% so you know how...

    Golf leagues.

There should be no debate. Index is the demonstration of a players ability no matter which course you play (index calculations are all adjusted/calculated against the standard). England golf and Congu (see the guide to handicapping under whs) both state that competition eligibility is to be...

    committee - waive rules?

Thanks both for pointing in the right direction, looking at the decisions as suggested by Duncan, this can only be done by committee and not by an individual committee member or referee and only in exceptional circumstances, which is where the committee discretion comes into it to determine what...

    committee - waive rules?

So if a player breaches a rule during competition that warrants a DQ, the committee has the authority to waive that DQ and allow the score to stand?

    committee - waive rules?

Rule 33-1 states that the committee cannot waive a rule of golf, but 33-7 says that they can waive a DQ in exceptional individual circumstances should them deem that it is warranted - confusing - what does this mean by exceptional circumstances? Does that include discretion e.g if the committee...

I have correspondence from the R&A that CONGU & EGU have advised them that they will not be allowing the LR (lost ball or OOB) in qualifying competitions!
