From 3 weeks of golf in Scotland

No animals were hurt in the course of my golf game in Scotland. I did however hit the electrified wire that ring the greens one time but the ball still kicked on to the green. ...and yes I had a lot of fun on and off the course...my short game was reliable (2 of 4 sand saves around the greens...

From 3 weeks of golf in Scotland

I took time to "smell the reeds" inbetween bouts with the wind and rain and when the sun peeked through. The celeb photog at the Alfred Dunhill Championship kindly shot me on The Bridge.... Prestwick St Nicholas #2 my first par in Scotland: chipped from the white wire rings at the right to...

1st Post: rate my Sept Trip to Scotland

Dornoch was lovely with just the right amount of wind and rain (more spray really) to be a challenge. Though I had a lot of par putts, this was the 1st round with no pars but still enjoyable nonetheless...scored 101...lost two balls. Highlight was bunker play... found two, one out for a 2 putt...

1st Post: rate my Sept Trip to Scotland

All the courses were in great shape for the time of year and the tiny tining of the greens. As for weather, Dunes and Tain were abandoned, but for this group of one and two. One kid did catch up to me but he waited for the bad weather to pass and played just nine...LoL. He was really good...

1st Post: rate my Sept Trip to Scotland

I've only access to the net on my phone, and so will have to be brief for now. Two great guys on different forums independent of each other took me on unforgettable rounds at Prestwick St Nick and Machrihanish Dunes. I found it difficult to gauge distance along the flat terrain at PSN, and I...

First golf holiday - any travel tips re the clubs?

As with all luggage, do NOT put your home address in the bag (they don't need to know where your empty home is)...put your email address/phone contact and destination address. My "broomstick" is a photo MONOpod that I extend to the length of the fairway woods....and like Tashy, I bought a driver...

    Waterproof

For my trip to Scotland next week, I'm bringing 3 levels of waterproof gear each with different ratio of water repellency (100% slickJ) to breathability (ripstop nylon)...making sure the pants overlapped shoes. One jacket is a motorcycle rain-jacket! I'm sure it will be interesting to play in...
