    hainult area

At North Weald last Friday, great condition particularly bunkers, some work going on the course but still worth visiting. Woolston Manor - tricky but very nice course, gets very wet though. Risebridge - not may favourite, if you have a shot off the mounds to the side of the fairways be...

    course guides V. satilite gps

This reminds me of a question which was bothering me previously in relation to how GPS yardages are obtained. My assumption is they are done from an ariel photo, but surely that doesn't take into account any slopes in the ground? (Hence why laser finders would be more accurate). Or am I...

    course guides V. satilite gps

Often a bit out, but can't recall seeing as much as 30 yards, normally in the 5-10 region which isn't really an issue for my game! :smirk:

Bubba and Oakley .... The hovercraft golf cart !

Don't think it is an April Fool's, as assuming the video isn't a cgi or whatever then they have actually made this. Whether it hits the production line is another matter of course, although I'm sure any courses which did get them would be very popular.

Medal...I refused to sign his card.

What was his handicap? Both those events seem to me the type a higher handicapper would do through ignorance of the rules, rather than a purposeful intent to cheat. Not that I'm saying what you did was wrong mind. This case I think is different, it is a 5 handicap who I think it's safe to...

Medal...I refused to sign his card.

Question for you (or anyone else): If on the 18th he had said 'yes, his ball was a little out of place' and moved it to the correct position - would you have then signed his card?

Medal...I refused to sign his card.

Well done, I think you handled that in a good way.

Junior Punishment - Am I wrong here ?

I think the other kids have learned a lesson - not owning up is a good way not to get punished. Personally I reckon the club were a bit silly to impose a ban seeing as you had already punished him. A much better solution IMO would have been for him to do some 'community service' (for want of a...

This looks interesting for recording stats easily

Great idea, takes out the 'fiddly bit' of recording stats on a phone or whatever. I think price tag will be the deciding factor on whether it's a success though.

    Playing today

Enjoy! Some nice golden sun here, good day to be out on the course!

    Fed up with the weather!

Depressing isn't it. And even when you can get out the courses are playing like the Somme. It's GOT to improve soon...

    Being called a bandit

Personally I would love to be called a bandit, just once would be fine...

Calling through, then finding your ball.

This is exactly what I have been thinking recently. Like everyone else I would let the group play though, but whilst that is definitely the polite thing to do, I'm not sure it is actually the best for the rest of the players on the course in regards speed of play.

Calling through, then finding your ball.

Have a question about what everyone does in this situation. Let's say your group drives off, and one ball isn't immediately found. You start looking, then notice the group behind has just arrived at the tee. You call them to play through and they start taking their tee shots. Then, just as...

Do you wear golf shoes whilst at the range?

Normally, just trying to mimic the real game as much as possible, although during the last winter they've become almost essential on the mats anyway!
