We have a river that comes through our course and we're the flood plain for the local area. We've been flooding more regularly over recent years and it happened most recently last week.
Our pro asked the county if we could nudge preferred lies forward to last weekend for our medal final (ahead...
So this is the exact type of event that they should have been clearer with at the outset.
With the exception of the gimmies, this describes the general roll up at most clubs that England Golf 'suggested' members enter all scores from. The problem was that they can't enforce it, and so you've...
Was going to suggest that an issue at our club is an increase in the number of stablefords versus medals, which benefits those who may have a blow-up hole. We've had a fair number of 45+ points this year, almost always from people with a handicap of 18+.
Then I remembered our Autumn meeting...
In a past life I worked for TaylorMade in marketing when the first Mini Drivers came out and it was amazing during magazine days how many people were comfortable hitting them off the deck, particularly the 14 and 16 degree versions. The bigger heads seemed to be more confidence inspiring for...
I'm on my second LAB putter at the moment. I previously won a DF3 in a charity raffle at the start of the year, and although liked it a lot, the head felt a little light for me.
Recently picked up a Mezz Max broom. However, it's at 41.5" which is ideal for me as I can still get more over the...
It's a perfectly fine Middlesex course. We're not blessed with them in the county, but there's some interesting holes at West Mid, and by all accounts, the conditioning has got much better over the last couple of years. Probably helped by some stability on the running of the club side - although...
Mods - feel free to delete if inappropriate, but I run Double Plateau Golf Club and you can indeed get it through us :)
We have an agreement with the brands we stock in the US that we don't undercut them here, hence the £20 pricepoint (with free shipping).
Huge thanks to those that have...

Trying to get to 100, which I thought wasn't too unreasonable (twice a week), until I realised there was no golf from January to March ...
I bought a 26 degree Apex last week and have used it twice. It's ace.
My current handicap is 2.5, and I play very bladey-blades ... but at this time of year, a club that I know I can hit 190y from virtually any lie is arguably the most useful in my bag, particularly around our course with some...
The irony, and frustration, is that one imagines its a lot of these sort of folk that are whinging about WHS, and how it is producing higher winning scores and making things unwinnable for lower handicappers. However, had this particular group been submitting their scores as per the CONGU...
I know that this is happening, because people have brought it up a few times on here - but it's really not been the experience at our club. Most Medals this year have been won with a score of 66+ which seems pretty fair in a field of 100+ folk. Surely there's always going to be one or two people...
This is a fantastic point. 90% of the negatives towards WHS in this thread have been based on what people think others might do (or might not do).
The lack of linking with other unions is a totally valid issue, as are a few others chucked about. But will never be able to get my head around...
Share your frustration re: comps north/south of the border - although my pro submitted rounds that I played in Scotland from the scorecard (told him before I played that I wanted to register it).
Definitely wasn't possible for Cat 1 golfers to put scores in as supplementaries down here...
This is true ... to an extent. It obviously depends on the number of rounds you're playing. The amount I play, I will do more than 20 rounds between November-December, so all of these will be my counting rounds come the Spring. I don't have any rounds from before September in my most recent 20...
