I am organising a Student v Teacher Golf competition. Due to the low number of teachers signed up and the high number of students wanting to play I am proposing that two students play against one teacher.
I am considering the students play foursomes as betterball would give a clear advantage...
Just returning to the post i left earlier and it seems to have caused mixed views. I think the rules are rules end of. BUT, the situation could have been diffused by the Captain's stepping in before they finished 18. The scenes at the 18th were extremely unprofessional and FAIR PLAY to the...
I have spent this summer going up 0.1's. Played last months medal using 3 wood instead of the driver. Nett 72, CSS 75, cut 0.6, happy bunny :)
I have had two driver specific lessons and still I struggle with it. Seriously thinking about a mini driver and ditch the big dog forever.
Just read the rules article in this months GM regarding 'ball unplayable'. Would I be correct in thinking that: if I putted off the green I could deem the ball unplayable and place my ball back on the green, under penalty of course?
I re-grip my clubs myself on a regular basis. It is very easy (but having a bench vice is a godsend) and you get to fit exactly what you want. I buy the grips from gamola and usually have a few spare in case i buy individual clubs and the grip is different or worn.
Get a putting lesson from a pro. Most of us get lessons using every other club in the bag but i would hazard a guess that most of us have never had a putting lesson!
I have two sets of clubs; one here in Ireland and the other over in the UK. My set in the UK are older and used infrequently. The set includes Callaway Steelhead 3+ and 5 woods with steel shafts. I am always amazed at how small the heads look when i use them and also at how well i can hit them...
Had a 12 in the July monthly medal.
1st ball lost so provisional in play.
Shank into water.
6th shot into bunker.
7th thinned OOB
9th just out of bunker
10th onto green
two putt for 12.
This was on the ninth hole Par 5. Thought it could not get much worse! Had same 9 hole score for back nine :-(
I use the iphone. Got a clip that attaches to a tripod and a bluetooth shutter release switch so that i don't have to walk over to the phone to start/stop the video. It gives enough detail to see where things are at key points.
Bets placed at Paddy Power and favourites entered on PGA app. As long as we get back a few quid more than we put on its a good investment. Oh to see the tears in the bookies eyes as we collect on our €2 e/w place !!!
I love going out alone, especially early morning. When at Sherwood Forest you'd get to see the deer which was rare enough. Nothing like your putts being the first to mark a line through the dew on the greens. Gives me a chance to throw another ball down and try different shots or clubs.
