I think people can be blind to their selfishness. Either ask to play on the date they are down for social golf. Or if you don't like confrontation point this out to the club.
I think as it's golf bidder you should use the 7 day return while you can.
If you don't like the clubs when you first get them you are likely never going to like them.
I am the same height as you and I don't tend to like big headed clubs which are slightly longer designed for extra distance...

You have every right to complain to the club about this as it is totally unreasonable using this as a reason for being unavailable to play a match.
Terribly sad news, Met Ashley at a forum meet at Littlestone before he joined and he was so happy after he got in.
