Thank you everyone for your replies! Interesting hearing all the replies about rarely or never being asked for handicap proof, I’ll definitely phone up and ask and see how I get on. If it’s put on websites as a deterrent then to be fair, it’s worked as I’ve always taken that as gospel!

Would pay £200-£250 if it was a Really? I’ve always avoided courses when it states they required handicap certificates as I dread the thought of driving a few hours and being turned away... has always crossed my mind though that if you’re paying a decent green fee then they won’t want to turn...

This is what I was thinking. Knowing I haven’t got as many shots to play with might help me concentrate more. Thanks for your advise and happy golfing to you too
