    You and Your Driver

I have a Taylormade Burner 2007 model which has a 1" longer than standard shaft. I am only 5"7 and the length of it was causing me some problems with strike and accuracy. I decided to take the drastic measures of removing the grip and sawing off just under 2 inches of the shaft and having a...

    Golf Insurance Rip Off

Only just taken some out myself for the first time. Did mine with American Golf, paying under £30 for the year. Bargain and if I hit somebody it will be priceless.

    Home Greens Psychology

Does anybody out there have the same problem as me in that I cannot get on with the greens at my home club? Anywhere else I play, I have lots of confidence in holing putts and lagging long putts well but on my own course, any length of putt I am capable of missing. Even if I hit a nice...

New season, new equipment, whats yours?

I did actually buy a new set of rubber spikes does that count? Played 9 shots under my handicap today, lessons paying off already!

    Grips

I've got the black / blue golf pride multi's on my irons and love them. They are pricey but if you buy them off E-bay like I did (£19.90 for 9 grips) you can save a packet. My local pro fitted them for me for a tenner so saved a packet. They perform very well but they do wear out the glove a...

New season, new equipment, whats yours?

No new equipment for me. I have decided to spend my money on a course of lessons with the local pro. Very happy with my equipment line-up and felt lessons would do me more good than hacking away down a range all winter and then deciding that I wanted a new driver/set of irons/hybrid/putter etc...

    Ladies day attitude problem

No problems with Ladies at my course. It's the seniors that think that they own the place. They have their allocated day which is fair enough but they monopolise the 1st tee most days of the week between 7.30 and 9.30 and they give you funny looks when you turn up as if to say "what are you...

Hi Greenkeeper, Would like to know how many times a year that hollow tining takes place and is it done in any particular weeks / months of the year? Many thanks

    Broke 80!

Guess what?? I did as well for the first time ever. Shot 78 on my home club which is a par of 71 (off 16). Interesting thing though is it was the first round I had played since I had the length of my irons reduced and new grips put on. Seemed to do the trick. :D

    Rules query

Thanks very much guys. I've learnt my lesson and will be standing just a little bit further from the ball next time!

    Rules query

Whilst playing today, I was stood on the tee and having my usual 2 practise swings when on the second one, I must have been too close to the ball and clipped it 90° off to the right about 20 yards. What is the correct ruling on this as I was not making a deliberate attempt to play the ball...

what trophies have you won this year

Have hardly played in any comps this year but have won the April & June Medals, the latter getting me a place in the county handicap cup final which was brilliant to play in. Reached the semi's in the matchplay. In pairs events, won the Greensomes Cup, runners up in the Foursomes trophy and...

    Annual fee's & membership problems

At my club, the Ladies have their day on a Monday where the tee is normally reserved for a couple of hours for a competition or match. I have never had a problem trying to get on the tee of a Monday at all. The problem lies with the seniors who have their day on a Tuesday. Not only do they...
