    Ouch

Birdieman - when did I say to you "Do you actually play golf"? I think you will find its another poster! Sadly, you appear to have totally misunderstood my last post. And it is my last post. Apologies for any offence caused.

    Ouch

Birdieman, in your enthusiasm to belittle another forum member I think you failed to understand what my post was about. I was not advocating this move, merely pointing out that it is a natural reaction if someone shouts Watch Out! at you to look up. Shout fore! on a golf course and you'll see...

    Ouch

What would you be suing him for? You don't say that you have incurred medical bills or loss of earnings. Are you just trying to turn an accident into a nice little earner and screw over some other golfer? Face it, golf is always going to be slightly dangerous, people firing small missiles off...

    London golf courses

Many thanks indeed, Teetotal and Junior for the suggestions. Will investigate!

    London golf courses

Looking for somewhere to play this month. I'm visting a mate in The Smoke and we'll be playing some golf. I don't particularly enjoy playing his home club and so would love to be able to suggest trying somewhere else - something in the £20-£35 range, in or around north/west London which will...

    Paul McGinley resigns

See Sam Torrance was quoted in yesterday's Sunday Telegraph saying: "I thought it was absolutely horrific of Faldo to ask Olazabal and McGinley to be vice-captains. It was a real mistake in my mind. The vice captains can't do anything, unless you have something you specifically want them to...

    Seve Trophy

Apparently the Seve Trophy overlapped with the National Ploughing Championships 20 miles down the road and that got average crowds of 55,000! I kid you not.

    Daft irritations

Indeed I did Birdieman - I even posted about it on the "Golf coverage on tv" thread here last weekend!

    American club golfers handicaps

I stand to be corrected, but aren't US handicaps, if anything higher than ours would be for the higher handicapper? Doesn't their system use the average score, whereas ours takes the best score from 3 rounds, and even then doesn't allow anything 2 over par on a hole to count. Also I believe in...

    Daft irritations

In team events, why can't the sides wear the same colours for the whole match? More to the point, watching the Seve Trophy today, on the scoreboards etc GB&I is in red, Europe in blue. But who are playing in blue? GB&I. Same in last Ryder Cup when Europe (traditionally depicted in blue, the...

    Seve Trophy

Isn't GB&I a bit random anyway? GB is a (inter)national entity in itself, but why tack on the Irish Republic? Might just as well tack on the rest of Europe. With the EU, Europe now has more of an unified identity than GB&I.

    Seve Trophy

It's much easier to support your national or international team than an individual who you don't really know. So on that level the Ryder Cup, Seve Trophy et al are more involving and interesing than most Tour events. Plus matchplay is also more interesting than strokeplay.

    speed golf

What should be outlawed are practice swings - what good do they really serve? They slow down the game, and can also be an irritation to other golfers and the greenkeeping staff.

Golf insurance ........ good thing? or waste of cash

The insurance industry is based on the premise of people paying them large amounts for cash for events that are unlikely to happen. This is turn means that they pay their customers as a whole a much smaller amount of money in return. It's how they make their profits. So as a general rule...

    Ideal number of holes?

ForeThought - you're dead right. Quality not quantity! Not only that, but some of these cramped courses are dangerous in that you are driving off far too near other players on other holes. Chap I knew lost the sight in an eye when hit by tee shot. He was standing on a tee which was near another...
