It certainly does feel like the vast majority of courses with a ranking in any of the credible lists talked about on here, certainly charge a premium for such!
Which top 50 course are you playing dare I ask? You’re not Gareth Bale are you? :sneaky:
:D
Interesting stuff! Dare I ask which your new numero uno is?!
V impressive having played 70 of the top 100 - wonder if many on here have done more than that!!
I‘d read one of them (possibly GM) was a case of anyone can vote, whereas Golf World is a ‘panel of experts’- will try and locate the GM article to which you refer, sounds interesting!
Interested to know which ‘top 100’ list people prefer and why? Given there appear to be several lists including:

Golf World / Today’s Golfer
Golf Monthly
National Club Golfer

I’ll watch out for midweek deals at Princes, though slightly concerned given it’s around the May bank hol it’ll be a popular time! They do have a great winter stay and play deal, just a shame that ends in March.

Marbella Old Town, or Estepona would fit the brief in that regard. Enjoyed both, with a great choice of bars and restaurants.
Puerto Banus is good fun, but, definitely more lively and considerably more expensive than the other 2.
Calanova (especially good value and brilliant clubhouse)
Santana
Marbella Golf & Country Club
Santa Clara
These all fall into a similar bracket to the ones listed and wouldn’t criticise any of them!
In a slightly more expensive bracket, is Los Naranjos which I visited in September and looked...
14 days in advance, released at 7am, either in person or over the telephone. No online booking, frustratingly, given it can be hit and miss somebody answering the phone in the clubhouse.
Usually get a decent / preferred slot ringing immediately though.
A mysterious amount of slots block booked...
Lindrick would have to be the pick for me. Played on a summer‘s afternoon and had the course practically to ourselves, an almost surreal experience. Enjoyed the Ryder Cup displays / room in the clubhouse and they’d made a real effort for the Jubilee, which was a nice touch.
Honourable mentions...
