I would suggest looking at a 4 wood too.
I changed from the MX700 3-wood to the G15 4-wood and I haven't lost distance but the flight is better and more hang-time (hence the length I suppose).
I did read in a magazine that some stats show that for non-pros many would benefit more from a 4 wood...
My recommendation would be to get fitted for a putter. Both that your refer to are heel/toe balanced - what if your stroke is better with a face balanced putter.
I haven't owned a Scotty but I have friends who swear by them. I've tried them and I have to say that IMO my YES Ashley and a Odyssey...
Manufacturers do vary.
I was custom fitted for some Mizuno irons and they were calculated at 4deg flat. Later I was custom fitted for some Pings, these came back at 2.75 deg flat. However when you compare the clubs side-by-side then they are the same.
Recently I had a putter fitting and...
Mallet, or rather face-balanced for me, just see to hole more putts with a face-balanced putter, but I then do struggle more with distance.
Currently have a Odyssey #5 tour in my bad, but it does alternate with a Sabertooth.
I'd "dabbled" with golf before, but my main sports were cricket and hockey. Gave up the former because of the rubbish politics involved at my level (thought I am meant to look forward to this rather than dread the thought on the Friday night). Gave up the latter because of injury.
Then my late...
I played on Tuesday evening after a visiting ladies comp and some greens (mainly the par 3's) had loads of pitch marks. One the 11th I repaired at least 8 and my own.
I have never seen it this bad before.
In comps - whites only.
On a weekend members could play off whites.
The club also experimented to allow member to be able to play off the whites during the week but after a certain number of weeks this was rescinded as the tee boxes were showing signs of wear.
I prefer to carry but I now use a Gokart.
Three things made me switch:-
1. Stiff lower back after a round of golf which might have been a sign of an old hockey injury.
2. Pain in my right wrist (no jokes please) - which I put down to lifting and lowering the bag off my shoulders.
3. Tiredness -...
I have a Motocaddy bag and on Motocaddy trolleys it is fine for £80, but I recently got a GoKart and whilst not a disaster I couldn't use the putter well and umbrella well as the trolley top rest fouled the wells.
As such I have just bought a PK Sports II - not used it yet but it sits well on...
I had the same thing from my local pro regarding a G15 U wedge - £72.50 compared to £79.99 or higher at the time.
Order in Tuesday morning and picked up in time for the Saturday comp :-)
I'm the other way round at the moment. My G15 irons are so easy to hit and the Mizuno MX700 driver, 3-wood and 20deg hybrid are just sweet now.
I am still tempted by a G15 driver though.
In the space of 6 months I had two custom fittings.
Mizuno - 1inche longer and 4deg upright.
Ping - 1 inch longer and 2.5 deg upright.
But then I know I have an rubbish swing so probably changes by the minute with me.
IMO: the Pings were/are better.
