i played Werneth Nr Oldham for the first time and had 34 points off the yellows despite 3 putting 6 holes. if i could putt id be off quite a few shots less than my current 19.

I Can’t believe I’ve won a club major, I won the Autumn Cup which consists of 4 rounds, with the 3 best scores counting, the last round had to count. I shot 72, 68 & 68 to win by one shot. Not bad consistency off 21 (now 19) for a 64 year old. To say I’m pleased would be an understatement...

Doubles are not my problem, its the trebles and above, I'm an 18 handicapper and I regularly have 7 or 8 pars then shoot 3 or 4 over my handicap meaning I lose my 18 shots plus the 7 or 8 I make up with the pars on the 10 remaining holes, very frustrating.

Cant say I'm too pleased, would have preferred a team we haven't played before, quite fancied Monaco as I've never been there. Having played almost the same teams as last year has took the shine off this season a little.

When we had a handicap secretary it was usually about ten o'clock the night of a Saturday comp and early next morning of a Wednesday comp but now the pro shop do it it's usually the next day for both so pretty quick by the sound of it !

R.I.P. The 18th at my home course, Fairfield Golf & Sailing Club. The car park, clubhouse and 18th sold for housing. We are building a new clubhouse with the proceeds.
