Films

I thought it was bang average to be fair. Cillian Murphy is good as alway but overall it was rushed, and missing key characters. Wouldn’t watch it again.
I enjoyed it, not as good as the series but better then I expected after the reviews.
Obviously teeing up a new lead for another series, which I probably would not bother with.

One Battle After Another being deleted! I usually avoid Oscar films too - tried Sinners 3 times and quit after 20 minutes. Won't waste even that now!

Nightcrawler. Hadn't seen it before. Really good. Jake Gyllenhaal is amazing.

Gonna buck the trend, and say I very much enjoyed 'One Battle After Another'. Sean Penn was outstanding, as was indeed Benicio Del Toro. Would have been happy if either had got the Oscar. Also just seen 'Sinners' (as it was free whilst on holiday). Not my normal genre of film, but enjoyed it nonetheless. Again, quite happy that Michael B Jordan got the Oscar.

Did you not think that Sean Penn played a generic, stiff, psycho military man? I thought it was something I've seen multiple times over.

Del Toro was very good, he has something about him. Getting tested by the police at the roadside was a very 'him' scene (in a positive way)

Yes, that's the character played by Penn - but he played it extremely well.

We went to watch Hoppers, an animated movie. It was actually really enjoyable. Sort of like a fun, cartoonish version of the Avatar story in a way.

Our daughter's first time seeing a proper film at the cinema - she did really well! Seemed really engrossed and watched it. Didn't want to sit down for the whole thing, especially after her seat tipped back with her in it because she doesn't quite weigh enough. 😂 But we were near the front by a rail and she just stood holding that instead and still watched it. Probably helped that we gave her a bag of Magic Stars and popcorn to munch through but whatever works!

I enjoyed it aswell, when you're working away you watch whatever is on. I'd also recommend Goat, the basketball film with animals a very enjoyable film but has loads of advertising.
Under armour etc

Couldn't help but chuckle at the image of her being folded up and trapped in the seat :-)

The Magic Faraway Tree. A very sweet kids film. Nicely done, very gentle and fun. A good antidote to current life. Not for really small kids, it's not scary there's just a plot they may find boring.

One Battle After Another. Gave it a go and enjoyed it (to my surprise). Leonardo and Penn were excellent. Lots of dark comedy moments which I didn't expect (or maybe they weren't meant to be funny)!

The Magic Far Away Tree. Took the teenagers to watch as if they’re gonna sit and ignore me, mights as well be entertained at the same time 😂

Decent film and cast, nice feel good atmosphere about it. But agree with LT younger kids might struggle to understand the plot. I think I may also be a little bit besotted with Clare Foy after it as well 😍

Watched it yesterday on a long flight. Really enjoyed it. 2 hours 45 run time, but it flew by. Great performances as you say, though the couple of slapstick moments did seem out of place.

Also watched Bugonia. Bizarre film but enjoyable. Emma Stone was terrific in it.
