I know there is a general discussion on swing analyzers however I just wanted to add my comments about the Zepp Golf product and see if it rings true with anyone. I bought it as a bit of a punt to see whether it'd help me get the most from my range sessions however I was sorely disappointed tonight to find that all manner of shots were recorded as within +/-5 degrees of the plane and it wasn't possible, using the stats available, to distinguish what was making one shot better than another.

Has anyone found the data useful or been able to record differences in their swing or is it really the case that my swing is damned consistent but the results are completely erratic? I'm very tempted to return it and simply go without as it doesn't feel to me to be a useful addition.

Not what I want to hear as I have just received mine yesterday.
Didn't think I could go wrong with all of the positive praise I have read about it

I am always wary of self analysing with monitors. I'm never convinced just how accurate some of them are, and to be honest, think they can lead to too much over analysing and tweaking. I'm trying to make my golf (and practice) simpler and as long as the ball is behaving in terms of flight and direction I'm not too bothered on how unless fundamentals start to go totally to pot.

Is there a user manual or any form of online help? Might be worth asking the question if you can. If you return it is there a money back guarantee?

I was also swayed by the widespread acclaim however I just didn't witness it first-hand so wanted to see what experiences others had.

There is a user manual which focuses on the functionality as opposed to the analysis. I do understand the numbers and where I am going wrong on occasion but I scored a 99 on a shot (club plane on point, hand plane on point, tempo perfect and backswing within 2 degrees of ideal) but it was a devilish hook. That I cannot understand and I don't think, when that happens, the analyzer is adding anything to my practice. I was wary about bringing in too many numbers and too much analysis and to end up with imprecise data is worse than having no data at all, I think.

I should be able to get a full refund on it which is sorely tempting as I think I'd be better served by having a few more lessons as opposed to more time with the sensor.

It wasn't a pick, more an observation based on my own experiences. However if it's saying the swing is good and the ball is hooking it's other wildly out or not picking something up properly. If it's helping I hope you get to the bottom of it and find what the issue is

The zepp doesn't measure the clubface at impact so I guess that may be able to explain the hook?

Sorry HJS, the curse of the internet strikes again - I hadn't interpreted anything as a "pick"! :)

I almost started to over-exaggerate inside-out or outside-in swings to see how much I could push the results out on Zepp but my very worst shot, a complete duff, was scored an 87 and registered reasonably good swing plane and tempo figures. It maybe that the swing analyzer technology isn't quite there in terms of precision so I reckon I will send it back and re-invest in lessons (or, more likely, a rangefinder).

I use a pro who uses GC2 in lessons and that gives me instant information and we can instantly see the result of changes and I trust him to interpret the data better than I could. And of course the tuition should only help the swing

I bought the Zepp a few months ago on the spur of the moment. Its graphics are interesting but ultimately it hasn't been worthwhile and now it sits unused in a drawer somewhere. The model swing is based on Keegan Bradley and I hate his swing so that didn't help either!

Just had my first session with the zepp and I think I have also come to the same conclusion.
Admittedly I haven't actually hit a ball yet just practice swings but it had every swing under plane and between a score of 95-99

The app seems to be great though but I don't trust the number compared to my recent lesson on flightscope

The Mrs bought me one for xmas...have to say I was like "errm, thanks..probably a bit gimmiky" but it has really helped me. Gave me confidence in my tempo, I was too slow on my backswing and I was coming over the top way too much. So now I take the club out more and come back on plane more, from +15-20% to 1-5% now. No more shanking on the range, and way less slices also. So gets a thumbs up for me.

looks like a name change is in order :p

I bought it when it was on the deal on BF somewhere. I like it, just keeps good count. I usually score between 75 and 85, but as others say, more importantly is how the ball actually flies. I use it to keep track on my minor and easy to understand metrics. Hand speed, club speed, bask swing, tempo.
what I realised is that if the set up isn't right the numbers are significantly different. So when the pro told m etc hold the club different and I didn't adjust the setting on the ZEPP I was suddenly 15 points out. It's a gadget, but it gets me out there. Just like my HRM for running did.

I have to say I think it's utterly brilliant, the instant feedback you get is fantastic and within a few weeks I've gone from slicing to being able to draw on demand, which is pretty nuts when you think of it!

Now I'm a hundred 100% am I ready for Q School? ;)

I can see this being potentially damaging to beginner golfers. As a relative newbie myself, I haven't quite worked out the feel of where I strike the ball on the face. I've got a pretty good idea, can tell if something is very off centre, but it's not refined. If I slice it whilst wearing this analyser, I could spend so much time trying to fix the numbers (I'm not certain about it's accuracy either) on plane, hand plane, angles etc, when in reality I've just hit it out of the heel, and the same swing out of the middle is all I need. Recipe for a vicious circle situation.

Give me the cost of this analyser in lessons with my pro at the range with a GC2 anyday.
