Just broke my number one rule and bought some irons I've never hit. Ok, before you shoot me I did waggle them about in Eagle Golf and fell in love with the feel and swingweight, which is often enough for me - I've rarely not liked an iron that felt right in the hands.

What were they? Oh, sorry, guys! Macgregor V-Foil M565s in graphite. I've been looking to go to graphite recently as my CFS means I get tired after about 13 holes and my standard steel MX15s are too heavy for me.

The mx15s are the 1st irons I've used with a lot of offset and I did like them, but I much prefer a club with minimal offset. Before the MIzzys I played Cleveland TA7 tours and loved them too apart from the shafts.

I was very suprised when I looked down on the V-Foils as I'd never even considered Macgregor before, but I really liked them. The best part was the price. I was looking at a set of MX23s in graphite for about £400. These Macs were £149 from Direct-Golf!

Im happy, the missus is happy, the only ones not happy are my poor MX15s who've cried themselves to sleep hoping for a new loving owner!

Thats some price mate, just looked at your sig and the cost of the YS shafts alone would be dearer than that retail!

I think macgregor are wrongly overlooked as one of the best iron producing brands!

Theres loads of decent clubs out there it would take a life time tot ry them out thats why i suppose people stick to the big brands like callaway and Ping etc.

No.1 - I'm impressed with the Driver (NVG2) so i guess the irons aren't going to be anything other than ok too?!
No. 2 - I know what you mean about offset.....I gave away my old custom fitted mizunos because the offset was driving me mad!!

I hope you like them!

I was tempted for a mo today by some Mx-17s.....only for a second though.....not falling for that old trick (of shiny new irons) again, unless they are the real mccoy....like MP 60s. t.b.h. the 17s looked awfully cheap.

Yes, the 17s are cast so look nothing like as good as the 23s or 25s.

I'm still not feeling great so yet to swing them in anger. I'll report when I do.
