Posted a nett 73, bitter taste tho', 3 off the tee at 5th and 18th, finished with a triple bogey and twice took 4 to get down from under 50 yards, although I didn't miss any 3 or 4 footers never holed anything of note, still hitting the ball well and despite the schoolboy errors pretty pleased with the days performance, managed to catch the buffer zone so no .1 added.

As one of my playing partners said "if amateurs didn't make mistakes we would all be playing golf on the telly", quite true really

Was woken up really early and was on the course at 06.10 this morning. Played solo and played some of the best golf I have played recently. Ended with an 83 net 65 on par 71 course.

79% Fairways
39% GIR
34 Putts ( didn't hole anything over 6 foot)

3 off the tee at a 187 yard uphill par 3 ( pulled 4 Iron into trees)
8 nett pars, 9 bogeys and only one double.

This is the first time I have been out so early but will definitely do it again. Lovely time of the day to be out.

an 87 nett 68, best of the season for me so far. That included a 4 putt at the 6th for a 6 and a 7 (ob) at the 13th followed by a 8 (just made a mess of it, rough/bunkers you name it) at the 14th. finished with 3 pars though. css was 68. happy but sad.
my playing partner suggested the committee will take 1 off the 7 and 2 off the 8 as i was in the buffer zone. is that correct, will i get cut?

Just back from my game around Stonehaven (Great little course........even though I say it myself)

http://www.stonehavengolfclub.com/

Lost a ball at the 7th and didnt go back, but apart from that I was round in approx 5 over 4's (par 66) but the best thing was .........I was the only one on the course and was round in under 2 and a half hours.

Broke 100 for the first time since taking the game back up shooting a 92, chuffed to bits. Going out again later today hoping to do something close to what I was doing yesterday.

42 points - choaked when I realised I had 40pts after 15. Also had 3 off the Tee on 10th. two chip in birdies inc a 2 from the sand. All round was a good round off the back sticks - but course was playing short in ideal conditions.

Choaked on what, the word Bandit :D

Just kidding Ken, Good shootin!

After coming 2nd in a medal two weeks ago (83 net 65), and coming third at a friends invitational the same week my game has spiralled !

30 points on Thursday and I lost 5 and 4 yesterday, couldn't buy a putt and found parts of the course i had never seen before . . . . . . ah well, thats the game i suppose, off to the range tonight :)

Funny old game today.....

Front 9 - 5 pars, 2 bogeys, 2 doubles.
Back 9 - 3 pars, 3 bogeys, 3 doubles.

32 points....not too bad....greens were SO slow....they'd been fast since the club open but not cut in a nearly a week! Reloaded twice (made pars with second ball) so nearly played to my h'cap. 3 chances at "2s"...not even close. 10 GIR....could have played to 8 without the doubles and wretched 3 putts.

Revenge is a dish served later!!!!. My regular partners moved the tee time yesterday from 11 to 9.00am and sent me a text at 11.45pm on Friday night (I'd long sine gone to bed and switched the mobile off). Got a call at 9.00 asking where I was. Rushed to the course and got ont he tee at 9.20. COurse was empty so played round and caught them on the 4th to discover them as a 4 ball. I expected them to break into a 2 and 3 to accommodate me having made an effort only to be told they were having a match. They let me through to play on my own.

To say I was steaming was an understatement and although I hit the ball ok I was getting funny looks from others on the course (thinking poor nobby no mate) so came off after 9. I decided to play on my own yesterday afternoon and boy was I glad.

Started par, par, bogey (missed the green with my approach) par, par, birdie, bogey, birdie (5 wood from a hanging lie from 205 to 5 foot). Out in level par. A new record. I think I started to think about it then as I bogeyed the first 5 holes on the back nine and then went par, bogey (thanks to a 5 footer) par, par to finish with a 76 (+6) which is my best ever round the Royal Ascot on the new course (had shot +2 when we were on the reacecourse on a much shorter track). Hit 58% of fairways and 50% of greens in regulation with 33 putts

That will teach them for making me mad. Just hope I can use the simmering frustration to relive them of their hard earned cash next week

76....go Homer!

Shame you couldn't have been in the comp....but then you'd probably not made 76.

I missed a work "do" (lunch) a while back. I was asked why I wasn't there....to which I replied....."because I didn't know"...
Oh....I sent you an email last night (at 11.36pm, I discovered).

Good score mate.....

Played yesterday with a pretty bad bout of man flu, and it showed, +11 for 9 holes and only stayed out as it was a monthlymedal and the fourball were playing in pairs for a quid each nine (the money didnt matter, it was just to keep things even)
Decided that I would throw everything into my back nine and shot a slightly better +2, ended +13 (48,36 on the nines) +4 net) but strangely happy with the outcome as I have had better front nines and given in and ended up with horrendous scores before but stuck in this time.
My score was basically murdered by two 7's at par 4's due to two bad tee shots so +7 for 16 holes has me feeling not disappointed but aware that I still need to eradicate the one killer hole each round that plagues me.
Well done homer, anything in the 70's is always good.

where do you play evita4

Bit of a nomad really. The round this weekend was at Duxbury Park. I haven't played played this course in 18 months. It was the second 18 hole course I played after taking up golf. My first score then was 122 so have taken almost 40 shots off in this time.

yeah i played duxbury a few times not a bad track really.

played 9 this afternoon shot 33 2under was on fire thoughout the bag not bad for someone who cant putt

How did you not carry on to play the back nine  ! I hate cutting potentially great rounds short. Anyway that is seriously impressive scoring, the nearest I can get to that is -1 thru 6.

As for my weekend play my round today got cancelled as my partners dad was taken into hospital, so I'm hoping to play midweek.

Dave,

It wasn't a comp just a roll up but I was still hacked off. I never got the e-mail btw. Gearing up for the club championship on Sunday so hope the form continues. Will be working on my putting as the rumour is they will be cutting and rolling the greens (they were 8.4 on the stimpmeter on captains day and they are looking for about 9.0)

Interesting week for me as our club has implemented major changes to open the first of two eighteen-holers. I played the new 'Masters' course 3 times (the other 'Signature' course won't open until September). Masters incorporates first five and last four holes from previous layouts (with some modifications and new greens) others are new. Over 3 rounds, I was pretty pleased to score 34, 34 and 37 points. Last (best) day was 94 strokes but that included a 10 :( on a new and pretty tough par 5. (managed 6 previously - clearly beginners luck!)
Good weather (and rolls!) helped me play close to my par on unknown holes and greens that varied from dead slow to reasonably quick.
Decided today was too hot - and best to quit while I'm ahead. Will enter Stableford next week if I can and see how I do.
