While watching last nights golf a thought came to me during the ad breaks, it was one of the driver ads that triggered it, I thought how long will it be before the research and development of clubs and balls has exhausted itself to the point that It can't go any further or the governing bodies put restrictions to any further advancement?

Over to you.

It can't be that long.
They've already restricted size and spring effect and length of shaft - the only thing they can really play about with is the weighting in the head and the shaft itself.
With the advances seen recently you have to wonder how much more thay can squeeze from it all.
Although to be fair, no matter what they do it still comes down to the idiot holding the other end - something that's even harder to control.......

My thoughts exactly, and when this time does arrive how will the companies market their new products to make them appeal to the club golfer looking for something new and improved.

the marketing boyos are hard at work getting the new obsession to a course near you soon. id say in a year or two people wont want white drivers anymore. bit a a fad. remember when people used to wear those awful illuminous adidas traniners. blinded by fashion imo!
