Been looking at the r1 as its seems quite adjustable , i currently use an offset driver and that helps the fade/slice my cack handed grip creates , just wondering if any one has used the r1 on its maximum draw setting and how did it work ,

cheers in advance

It worked ok for me - got good distance and hit it well but found the flight a bit too low and struggled at times to get a draw from it but believe that was more down to the shaft

The R1's adjustability was its main feature and worked exceptionally well.

I hated the sound unfortunately.

As per a comment i made a while back, the R1 had a lower COG as per the SLDR, but no-one really knew of its effect, if you play a 9degree now, get the R1 set on say 11 and it "should" fly...

I had mine set to the highest possible loft - think its 12 ? And still a lower ball flight

I prob hit my drivers low hence the need for a 14 degree SLDR

It's a good solid driver but if you have a pronounced fade it won't help. My usual shot is a moderate fade however with the maximum draw setting it led to hooking the ball with the stock shaft if I tried to draw it and a I could still get a fade on a bad swing. Putting it bluntly a bad swing is still a bad swing and to get the best out of a R1 you need a good swing and the right shaft.

If you use an offset driver, have tried lessons with no improvement, stick with the offset driver otherwise you could knock your confidence and impact your game.

U needed a 14 degree R1 Phil! that or a better shaft for you!

The R1 is a great club, BUT it needs a trackman session to get the best from it as there are soooooo many variables! I ended up with mine set at 11.75 degrees with a closed face and weights in the heel, shaft wasnt right for me 100%, but when i did get a decent connection, it was good for forum average drives!

Should be a bargain now too i assume. Just get it set up properly and dont mess about with it!!

Tried 3 different shafts just couldn't find one to get a nice ball flight

Don't get me wrong it still went well but no high draw - like I had with the R11 and now have with the SLDR

Didn't like the feel of the shaft it came with as well - prob should have tried the R11 shaft in it

just changed mine to 11 deg and neutral, much better :)

I did have the swing of a baby orangutang though so loft was my friend. I hate the cog on the bottom now though, caught it on the ground a fair few times and really gave my confidence a kick. I knew it was swing related and have now rectified it.

Its deafening aswell when middled at the range!!!! (I manage one now and again)

I'd usually agree but I play with a lad who played off 2 with a cackhanded grip.

He changed his grip and he now plays off 5.

My mate also plays Cackhanded & plays off 9,looks so wrong but obviously works for them.
I didn't necessarily mean get the perfect grip, just a grip that works to eliminate/reduce the slice.
