Now that I've been knocking around a golf course for a couple of months, I find that I'm managing to lose far fewer balls than when I first started. I'm getting the hang of avoiding ponds and ditches and managing to keep my shots on the fairway the majority of the time. So far I've been using Dunlop DDH Ti balls because they're cheap but they are rather hard and feel 'clunky' against the face when hit. I now feel it's time to upgrade to some slightly better and more responsive golf balls.

There's quite a few threads and comments on here in support of Srixon Ad333s. They seem to be popular so I thought I might try them out. Do you think they would be a good next step for a relative novice? What other balls should I consider trying? Nothing too expensive, mind, but anyone like to suggest alternatives in the same price bracket to the Ad333s. Useful suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers!

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Srixon ball.

They are priced well, play well and are, apparently, the best selling 2-piece ball in the UK. Lots of happy users then.

I think most agree that there is relatively little difference between distance balls and the expensive ones in terms of how far they will go, but the expensive ones tend to be softer and will stop quicker. But whether you can tell the difference is a personal thing.

I'd get some 333s and some expensive ones cheap on the inevitable sales that happen all the time. Then compare and contrast.

Ive used ad333 for a few years now, I play off 9 and as a ball I think they play absolutely fine. A pro v1 feels better to use and is softer around the greens but they make no difference to my scores so I stick with the cheaper ad333

The 333's are a great ball for the price. The distance ball would be good through the winter too, 2 dozen for £15 in some places. The dx2 is another great ball for the price, the new version is a more conventional dimple and softer off the putter IMO than the 333.

This is me. I'll play likes of Pro Vs but I'll rarely buy them. Buying - I's buy the 333 or more often these days the NXT Tour S
