... on the back of your inherent swing fault, what saves you? Is it a go-to, get out of jail club, or do you play for the slice of hook that you know will get you there or there abouts?

For me its my short game, especially my putter. Tonight I couldn't hit a cow's bottom with a banjo. But my short game saved the day. Only hit two faiways, and not a lot more greens. Dropped 6 shots... only 24 putts, and a season average of 28.2.

So what saves your game?

Definately my short game. Im confident around the green with anything from a 7 iron to my lob wedge, saves me a lot of shots (my putting is my weakest but im working on it)

Chipping for me, prob because I tend to end up short or on the edge of the green a lot! I can normally get it close and have more than my fair share of chip ins!

Recovery from a seemingly impossible situation - a bit Seve-esque on tht front if I say so myself.....

I've lost count of the number of times I've hit a poor shot only to cream one to set up an easy par or birdie....

Course management. Try not to compound one error with another. Have made some Seve-esque saves in the last year so maybe that is the way forward. Harder it is more I seem to pull it off but give me a ten yard chip and run and I'm lost

Hmmm...not sure I have one? If my driving is good, my putting is bad and vice versa.

As for a go-to club, I only carry the 12 (should I carry more?) but I can confidently and consistently rip my 5 wood off the fairway like a beast. Ka-boom.

short game saves me really. I scramble from the tee with an iffy driver swing. dodgey long game. I can get the distance but usually hitting a hook or fade to get it there or there abouts near the green then let my short game get me home.

I never thought I would say this but it is my short game that is my saving grace now. Always been competent, but never fantastic around the greens. But since getting fitted for my wedges when I got my new irons has really made a difference, also the wedges are the nicest I have ever used.

Short game has saved me in every game I've played without a doubt. If I could learn how to get to the green better my handicap would plummet!

Usually my putting, but as other areas of my game have improved my putting has dropped quite badly. Hopinh a good bit of solide practice will help fix it.
