Only being a member of my club for 18 months I can only vouch for what the greens were like last year. But being around in the clubhouse the members are calling the greens the worst in history. My course is generally one that drains well and is never normally closed due to 'flooding' so to speak.
I understand that the weather recently hasn't exactly been consistent with hot and cold snaps, rain and sun, But at the moment words cant describe just how bad they are with talk that they won't be returning to normal state any time soon.
The resulting factor is that my putting confidence has been destroyed, albeit im still holing putt's frequently which is quite astonishing really (I think its my bad putting that is counteracting the greens). I now cant play little bump and runs which is the key to playing my course well as the bounce is so inconsistent, it can hit a little hole left by a 4 WEEK old spiking of the greens and either stop dead or shoot on. To try and counteract the ruined greens they have allowed the grass to grow rediculously long resulting in very very slow greens. Another problem is the conditions vary from green to green, you can have a slow green, then find one you shoot 15feet past the hole!
Dont even get me started on the bumps and bobbles!!! Does it kill to have decent bobble free greens!
Right rant over, What are your clubs greens like at the moment?
