HID was putting my gear ready last night for my custom fit session today when I told her I couldnt wear the shirt because I never hit my irons well when im wearing it. After she looked at me funny I then decided to tell her.....

1. On competition days I have to park in a certain place in the car park and usually turn up early to make sure I can get in there.

2. I have to warm up in the middle net.

3. I always start on the putting green, putting to the same hole.

There were a few more clothing related ones but I think you get the picture....

This is MENTAL, but i love it! Same parking space, thats a new one to me!

I have a coin, its a US quarter but a state one (they released a design for each state, mine is texas).
i will only use that to mark my ball and will always have it face down. So much so, if someone marks my ball with their coin, i will put my ball back down, and remark my ball. even if its only 6inches away (careful how i worded that before some clown tells me i am breaking the rules).

they day i lose that coin (or the other two indentical ones i have) is the day i quit golf!

What happens if you cant do one/any of the above?

Non for me.

I used to have one or two, but not any more.

It's bad luck to stand in the wrong place - aaaarghhhh - @Hogan shoots himself (not literally) for being such an idiot - and he didn't really mean it in any case.

I have a couple of old Pringle jersey that I bought with competition winnings in the late 1980s - they are my lucky jerseys as I tell myself they are full of golfing memory - and if I ewant to play well these jerseys know how to make me :)

But they are knackered and full of holes and thin as gossamer lower back right hand side where my bag has rubbed over many many years of carrying.

I have none.

Seek help!!

I like to have 3 ball marker coins - all the same - in the back right pocket so I don't have to fiddle around to find one.

The clubs have specific dividers in the bag and must not under any circumstances be swapped around

I have to wear a cap (or Beanie if it's cold)

After I've looked at the line of a putt I always twirl the putter on the way back to the ball.

I don't think they're superstitions, probably more my OCD, but I have to play the same ball (Titleist Velocity) and wear the same type of glove (FJ Pure Touch) and use the same pink/orange castle tees...... I am slightly unhinged.

Considering I can be a bit superstitious in other parts of my life I was surprised that on thinking about it I don't have a single golfing superstition.

I think it's because my superstitions are triggered by good/bad events - whereas I only have good memories of golf - if I play badly I forget it straight away after the round finishes - if I play well I retain the memories.

I don't think I'd call mine superstitions, just kind of compulsive habits. My clubs haveto go in the right dividers in the bag, can't stand unorganised bags. I'll only use white or natural wooden tees, and white or yellow short plastic ones. Plus I'll only ever have 1 plastic and 2 wood tees in my pocket, no more no less (apart from when one is in the ground on the tee).

Think that's it.

I've never understood superstitions and how people believe a completely unrelated thing can have a bearing on something else.

I guess with golf the majority of the battle is with the bit between your ears, so if you go out there thinking you're wearing the wrong t-shirt and couldn't park in the correct spot means you're going to play rubbish, you'll just play rubbish and thus re-enforce the superstition, where as in reality it was just your mindset from the off, because lets face it if you were distracted and didn't think about the parking spot because you were in a rush and forgot that was your unlucky t-shirt and you came back with 45 points you probably wouldn't associate the two. In fact you'd probably now say that was your lucky parking spot and your lucky t-shirt.

I also always wonder why people believe their superstitions means they are going to play better than someone else with theirs.

"I'm wearing my lucky t-shirt and I've parked in the correct spot and I warmed up in the middle net and putted to the correct hole on the putting green!! I can't lose today"

"Yeah, well I'm wearing my lucky pants and I've skipped breakfast so I'm obviously going to win..." etc etc

The brain is a funny old thing.

I will always have in my left pocket before I tee off...

- 4 long tees
- 4 short tees
- 1 pitch mark repairer
- 2 ball markers
- 1 groove cleaner

For short tees I just use the long wooden ones when they break so if i don't have 4 short ones, I have been known to pick some up off the first tee :o

I used to always start a round with a number 4 ball but that became difficult when I ran out and to be honest, it's a bit crazy :D

Looking at some of the h'caps at the bottom of your sigs some of you need to find different superstitions...;)

If I'm not using my driver off the tee - i.e. using an iron or a hybrid - I have to find a broken wooden tee to use. The fact that I am Scottish is not relevant - and when using the driver, I have 2 tees tied together with cord.

I carry a little pencil sharpener with me for tidying up all those broken long tees.

I always make sure I am wearing my Power Balance Band,
Never seem to play well without it,dont know if it actually still works or not,or whether its all in the mind,
Always drive the same way to the course..
