Neil. Great to have you along.

I have posted video aready, so to answer your questions.

Do you have regular coaching at the moment? If yes, what have you specifically been working on?
Had six lessons about 2 years ago to cure a slice. Currently having lessons to cure a very low flighted hook, and tee shots that are mostly topped with the above flight pattern. Going on the Explaner tomorrow. Pro is working on my grip, the take away, the follow through and posture at set up. So not much to start with then!

What do you consider to be the strengths of your game?
I have some nice kit at last! Seriously though my short range pitching and chipping has improved over the winter.

Weaknesses?
Tee shots as described above, iron shots that pull left, and the occasional push out to the right off the tee.

How often do you play/practise?
Generally play once a week, but that has increased to 2 or 3 times a week whilst I'm out of work.

What is your scoring average/handicap?
H'cap is 26 and rising by 0.1 every game! It was 24 at the start of last season. Gross score average for my home competion track is 109.

Do you keep stats?
Yes, on Scoresaver 2. Have about a years worth now.

What is your strike/shot/shape pattern for the following clubs
Driver/Tee shots - topped low flighted hooks
Fariway woods - as with tee shots
Rescue Clubs - as with tee shots
Long/medium irons - generally pulled / hooked again generally low.
Short irons - pulled but with a generally good flight.

I do have quite a high penalty rate, but I do lose some shots with silly little duffs, I'd reckon about 5 shots a round.

I've copied this years stats below if it helps.

Key stats for Haplesshacker (Hcap: 26)

Fairways Hit: 30% (Hcap Std: 21)
Greens In Reg: 8% (Hcap Std: 23)
Putts Per Round: 38.03 (Hcap Std: 25)
Sand Saves: 0% (Hcap Std: 28+)
Birdie Conversion: 16% (Hcap Std: 10)
Par Scrambles: 4% (Hcap Std: 28+)
Driving Distance: n/a (Hcap Std: n/a)
Penalties Per Round: 3.77 (Hcap Std: 28+)

Rounds Recorded: 15
Date Range: Current Year: 01/01/2009 to 20/03/2009
Producted by Scoresaver 2. www.scoresaver.co.uk

I feel like I've beared all in public!

Good to have you along. I've posted my swing (homerjsimpson) but here are the answers:

Coach - I use Grant Sawyer at N1 Golf and have done for several years. We are currently working on my short game over a six lesson period (pitching, chipping, bunkers, putting)

Strenghts - Mid irons. Normally on target and within 15 foot or closer

Weaknesses - Chipping - to much wrist breakdown but it is the next lesson with my coach so should improve.

Play/Practice - I normally play at least once a week sometimes twice. If I play one day over the weekend I'll use the other to practice. I normally go to the range once a week and in the summer will practice at my club or play 3/4 nights during the week as well as my weekend games

Stats - I use ScoreSaver2 to record all my stats

Striking
Driver - Very good with a decent height and average distance. I'm normally on the short stuff or first cut. My shot is usually a draw but my bad shot would be a push (straight right)

Woods - 3 wood excellent off the tee. Competent with a 5 wood off the fairway and good shot is a high draw. Bad shot is a pull hook

Hybrid - Not overly confident off the tee but good from light rough or fairway. Usually straight but bad shot is slice off the tee and a pull hook off the grass

Long irons - No problems taking along iron and usually accurate. Bad shot would be a slightly thin contact but usually straight

Mid iron - My strength. Confident with 6-PW and confident of hitting the target and within 15 foot. Get good controlled spin so contact good. Bad shot would be a pull left or the odd snap hook

Short irons - OK normally accurate but with odd fat (quitting) and odd push or pull. Normally hit with a slight right to left flight

Not recorded any of my own swings to video as of yet, but will answer the initial questions.

I have had regukar coaching, but have found I've gotten to a certain level & don't seem to be advancing any further & seem to be re-visiting the same things. So have decided not to have any more lessons for the time being, but to simply work upon what I know I have problems with.

I do sometimes have a tendancy to come across the line coming through & do get some chickenwinging, though this has been reduced in general. When nervous I can get a bit quick or come through open, though rarely much a of a problem these days.

Recently problem shots a push or big draw hook. Whilst playing Celtic Manor I felt I was getting a bit steep & was finding a reverse pivot had appeared as if from no-where.

My strengths & weakensses are my pigheadedness to carry on plugging away. I used to be a very good putter & shortgame was quite good, but this seems to have degenerated as I have gotten a bit too technical & less feel. The irony is I used to be more accurate with a fade than I am now with the draw. I can play some fantastic shots at time, but main problem is consistency of play.

Up until this last year I was playing 2 or 3 times a week & perhaps on the range 4 days a week. though this last 12 months has dropped to twice or three times a month & practicing infrequently, or should I say sporadically. I may have a week I'll practice 4 times in one week & play 3 times or more in one week, but then only play once in the next month. I'm hoping to adress this issue over the next 12 months.

Scoring can be anything from 83 upto 120 for around in general. Usual scores for 2008 were 92 - 112 I've not maintained a handicap over 2008 & the last time I did it was a 28. My works association handicap is 24.

I have kept stats before & plan to address this over the next 12 months & start keeping stats once more.

Driver can either be straight, slight draw, hook, push, or even occasionally a return of the old fade & slice.

Fairway woods & tend to be low long draws, or straight. occasional week pulls. High & straight is possible with 5 wood or hybrid.

Long or medium irons high draw, straigh, or push. Occasional pulled fade.

Short irons is usually a push or when I cut the line a pull. or straight/slight draw shot when everything feels right.

I became a Fellow of the PGA early last year.
The PGA have a process in place that rewards further development and also acheivement in a specific field.

I had to apply in writing and my application was seen by a committee.

From here I can reapply to jump further up the ladder, Advanced Fellow on to Master Professional!

Oic.
So its not a post that your members or peers put you up for, it's something you do yourself.
Can you charge more for lessons with the title?

The panel that decide are made up of elected PGA professionals

Yes, I suppose I could charge more. But I see it as a rubber stamping of my commitment to improve my skills to offer the very best service to my members and pupils.

I enjoy further development and feel that if I am not learning then I can not help my pupils. Every day I feel like I am learning something new that I can pass on to help people enjoy and improve their game.

Love the look of the invention
Any chance of seeing a demo version of it?
When will it be coming out?
Looks like it really aids connection for putting, chipping, etc

bobmac. After all the free tips & advice you've dished out, I doubt we'd worry about the occasional mention.

Ps Ta for the hints regards the swing
