Been submitting scores from all my recent 18 hole ventures on the course to the site YourGolfHandicap.co.uk and was suprised to see that it matched what Game Golf had me down as. A 13.6 is what it's come out as and to be honest I'm pretty happy with that if it's legit.

Makes me really want to gun for my official score now. Never thought I'd want to chase something like that to be honest. When I started playing again at the end of May this year GG had me at 34.6 and I must admit, I've done nothing but golf since then. Tried to play as much as I could, and fitted range time in the middle coupled with 4 hour long lessons. Feels like the season end has come to quick.

Wow... 34.6 to 13.6 in 4 months is pretty impressive!!!! Congrats!

Game golf had me at 5.4 actual 12.5! Never quite sure how it's worked out but cuts are also harder to come by being comps only and not bounce games.
Get joined up put your cards in and good luck

Your HC will only be legit when you get an official one and the pressure of playing with a card - that's the true test and what your true HC will be

This^^
I'm great off the yellows and bounce games, GG has me at 9.4, actual is 14, although it does give me confidence that I possibly have the ability if I can reproduce it in comps😃

So slightly off at a tangent, is GG a good investment for a beginners; presumably OP would of originally shooting >110 rounds...
Personally I think it's very useful if you use it to identify areas for improvement, certainly helped my game.

That's why the wording had to be right in the first instance here with my post. It's a good measure to have a 'fake' HC. It's something to work towards, and I am a member of a club, it's the only place I play. Been there for the 4 months I've been playing, but still haven't really got to know anyone yet. Not enough to want anyone to card my scores. There's a wee guy that lives two doors up from me whose a member but he's a junior member. Think it needs to be a full member.

Probably won't renew my membership next season as I'm looking for a club that is more involved with its members and also with members who actually talk to each other. Maybe a longer more challenging course too. My course is only 5100 yards off the yellows and not much more on whites. It's basically driver wedge on most holes and only sometimes I've played irons off tees for position but don't really feel it got me any better score the majority of the time as I don't hit driver that bad up there. It's only really ever putting that lets me down and the odd shot around a missed green but I can fine tune that anywhere.

Would be good to broaden the horizons a bit.

Paul77, if you want a game at Dullatur GC to have a look see let me know. You can normally join for next year from October this year.

Not to a Debbie downer but as far as I know GG or that website don't take into account SSS. Your handicap would be based off that rather than the par I believe?

The Website I use takes SSS into account. It's 69 on my course. It pulls in all date from my course, just need to search for it on the site and it populates the scorecard with the data.

Dullatur isn't too far from Lennoxtown which isn't bad.

Best thing to do at a new club is to just show up on a medal day and try and get in with a group. This, at worst gets you a card in and at best gives you a group to join permanently. I rejoined a club that I was a junior at and all the boys I used to get a game with have moved on. I got myself paired up with a couple of guys, instantly got on with them and was quickly absorbed into a group of 5 at the club with a further 10 that we meet up with at other courses.

Milngavie is really friendly, a great setting and can be quite a challenge too. I joined last year and didnt know a soul.

I know loads of people now. On medal day there are always slots where you can join a two ball. Every time I've been out I've been asked when i usually play and to stick my name down if i see them again. There are plenty opportunities to plan regular games on the back of it, or just play when you feel like it.

Contact Susan Woods and she will organise something if you are interested.
