Your footwear...

Hello fellow golfers

I would like to know how long your golf shoes last for? I have just bought a new pair of Mizuno shoes. But it was only this time last year I bought a pair of Foot Joys. which have already broken up. I'm only playing golf on avarage, once a week and I do look after them by drying them when wet, cleaning and a polish.

If you think about it, I wear my work shoes 5 days a week for a round 12 hours a day and walk about 3 miles each day. My golf shoes on the other hand, I wear for 4 hours day, once a week. So why do my other shoes last so long and my golf shoes don't?

It's not a gipe at my golf shoes, well maybe it is? But I would like to get an idea from all of you, to how long your golf shoes last in comparison to shoes you would wear on a daily basis?

I got through two pairs of FootJoy's last year, mostly due to the shocking weather we had

I usually need a new pair for each year

you're right they don't seem to last as long as work shoes and they often cost a lot more too

I own a set of Mizuno MP shoes in black. Now they took a wee while to break in properly, but they are holding up really well.

Must have played about 50-60 rounds in them and after a quick coat of polish you would think they are only weeks old.

I genuinely think i may get another 2-3 years out of them, if not more.

The say you get what you pay for....

Even better that i got them for about 40 quid of the bay.

Really, really rate Mizuno clothing. Really high end in my opinion and built to last.

I tend to get years of wear out of my FJ's. Mind you with 16 pairs I can afford to rotate them regularly

To the OP, my last pair of Adidas lasted 2+ years, but didn't play every week. I've had the Nike TW13 shoes for the last 3 months and love them, so comfy!

I bought a pair of Mizuno shoes this year and love them. Bought them and a pair of Nike Tour Premiums for less than /£50 and they are some of the best shoes that I have tried.

Been using Nike Heritage shoes through the summer, but have just bought some Callaway Chev Comforts for the winter so I can alternate pairs while one pair is drying.

The Heritages have been a great - if a little boat-like - shoe; hope the Callaways live up to their performance.

Anyway, pair of dry joys have lasted me years and are in perfect nick now, although haven't played in consistent, extreme weather. Just bought a pairs of green joys, too. I think 2 pairs will do for me!

My oakley spikeless are wearing through the sole already, only bought them in April

Might end up buying a new pair of spikeless every spring, my adizeros on the other hand are holding up well but I've only really played in them from Christmas till April

@ the OP - you stress your golf shoes way more than your work shoes. Your golf shoes are designed to stick to the ground and for you to push with all you have into them.

I practice every night and recently got some new trainers that I practice in. They are Reebok lined with gortex so good quality. 3 months and they are trashed! My little toe on the left side has smashed through where I push my weight onto my left side and straighten my leg, the rubber sole is tearing and the blocky grip ripping off.

They are not built for the stress they are put through.

I have a pair of 'Hillsides' from Redfire golf. Had them for 2 seasons (summer and winter) and they are going as strong as the day I bought them. Softest leather shoe I have owned.

Just about to come into my 3rd season with a pair of my joy icons, wear them 10 months of the year still look like new, also have a pair of white oakleys for the summer, also 3 years old, lighter usage but will still be fine next year. Guess I am light on there use, however I do look after them properly.

What do people use to polish their golf shoes? I've started using shoe tress in my FJ's which has definately helped.

My AQLs are still watertight after 5 years and hundreds of rounds and my Contours are still as new after a year.

I'm far from a polishing fanatic too...

Still have two pairs of the original adidas Tour 360's which much be 7/8 years old. Mind you I have "many" pairs of three stripes and a couple pairs of Puma's so they are all rotated and co-ordinated (poser!).

My (current) pair of FJ Contours, BOA lacing are 2 yrs old and will get me through the winter ok. They're my 3rd pair, each pair lasting at least 2yrs.

A bit like Galvin Green waterproofs, buy the best and it actually works out cheaper in the long run.

I've had a par of Footjoy AQL's for, just coming up to, 2 years.

I also have a pair of FootJoy DrJoy Tours coming up 18 months old.

Both are still in pretty good condition as I look after them. The are cleaned after every round and waxed once a month or so.

If you leave them to rot in your car boot, especially on warm/hot days the leather will crack in no time at all.
