How much would it cost you to play in your club's individual Open comp.

Entry for ours is basically £47.50 - includes a bite to eat before and lunch between rounds of 36 hole comp.

Now for a visitor paying this I think this is great value for money (visitor is £5 more) - but as a member I just cannot justify or actually really afford to be paying near on £50 to play my own track - albeit with a nice bite to eat. Especially as I am already paying £1600+ for my annual subs.

And so I will not be entering - which is a great pity as it is most prestigious trophy. But those who can afford it will. Plenty of members who would love to play just won't - because they can't afford the entry - and I don't think that is right.

What's members entry cost for your club's Open comp?

£15 for mine, usually don't play in my own club's open, prefer to play several of the nearby Open comps, great way of playing some other courses at a lot less than the green fee. Cost ranges from £12 to £20 depending on the host course.

sounds a bit ott to me .
fair enough for visiting golfers but members being asked to pay towards greenfees is a bit of greed by the club.
have the club given a reason for this exorbitant fee they are asking of the members?

£22 at mine and one of the dearest in the area, i don't bother with, I'm playing Dornoch for £36, Moray for £22, Elie for £20 and Panmure for £25, now they are bargains against the standard green fees

we dont have one but to me wouldnt be looking to play in my own clubs open if they did have one, prefer to play other courses in them

was a bit of a furore when a pro-am was announced for this year with £5 diff between members and non members, prices were swiftly altered to a £20 gap

We don't have one but I wouldn't play in it if we did, I'd rather play at other courses where it could be seen as good value.

Just because there's food on doesn't make it any better for me, and especially anything over £25.

Same with AM AM's, the only thing I'll pay for at my home club is the Gents Invitation.

My previous place a prestigious Open, £8 this year. Cruden Bay do a 4 day one for £30(£100 for visitors) and a 1 day one for £10(£30 for visitors). Add a bit for food, and it's still reasonably cheap.

£10 to play mines. No food or anything, same for visitors and members. I playing it last year, and already in for this year. Wouldnt usually want to play to play my own course but I'm happy to support the club.

I don't see the point of playing in your own Open. I wouldn't pay the amounts discussed to play at my home club on top of my fees. I'd struggle to justify that.

We have a open every friday...

Then thers open week with comps every day.

No silly prices. Especially not for memebers. Usuall comp fee.

We have two. one is off the blue tee, 8 and below £15 for members and £30 visitors.

Then we have the 4 day open, four rounds, £45 members and £160 visitors. might be a meal included in that, but not sure.

The only real reason I'd like to is that the trophy is beautiful - a model of a 17th Century frigate made out of silver - and hence our open is called - The Silver Frigate. I know it's very unlikely I ever would win it - but it would be nice to have a go.
